POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT :

- The Director, Quality is responsible for leading and managing the development, implementation and continual improvement of quality assurance and quality control functions to support India operations. This position will be responsible for managing all laboratory functions and will also serve as a primary quality assurance resource.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES :

- Provides leadership, guidance and direction to quality control team in India to support the department's and company's strategic initiatives and goals.

- Manage laboratory operations and maintain the laboratories in compliance with GLP requirements, ISO17025 and NABL accreditation requirements and other applicable local laws/regulations in India.

- Ensures the review and approval of all analytical method development, method transfer and method validation protocols and reports. Lead method development group to develop and implement new laboratory test methods, optimize or transfer existing methods at our in-house India lab, external testing labs, contract manufacturer's and strategic partners.

- Ensures that all deviations, including laboratory out-of-specification results, occurring during the development process are investigated appropriately, and assures that necessary Corrective and Preventive actions are documented and implemented.

- Manage the stability program and support R&D activities and provide stability test reports for finished products.

- Support due diligence efforts for product registration and licensing/accreditation activities.

- Responsible for accuracy and integrity of laboratory data.

- Hire, manage, support and develop/train Quality staff and secure sufficient resources to support the company's goals and objectives.

- Conduct or audit Herbalife Nutrition laboratories and manage Good Laboratory Practice inspections.

- Liaise with the regulatory authorities on laboratory operations and support regulatory audit preparation.

- Develop metrics and reports to assess performance, trend and analyze data and take appropriate actions as appropriate. Track, report and provide periodic reports to management in support of Quality Metrics. Leverage data to improve product quality and laboratory efficiency.

- Manage all expenses related to Quality Control functions.

- All other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Manages supervisors, chemists/microbiologists, technicians.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Skills :

- Strong leadership skills with experience in implementing quality processes, systems and strategies

- Strong proven hands-on experience with a variety of both GMP and GLP matters

- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and detail.

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team

- High level of familiarity with broad range of compliance areas and ability to assess risk and develop solutions.

- Strong computer literacy, proficient in MS Office.

- Strong knowledge of quality systems and regulatory requirements for India

Experience :

- Experience in working in a cGMP environment

- 10+ years of QC experience

- Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, and mentor employees

- Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies, internal and/or corporate audits

Education :

- Master's Degree in Food Science or Dairy Science and Technology from Premier Indian Institute Like CFTRI, ICT, NDRI

- Bachelor's Degree in life sciences, engineering or equivalent technical field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

- 12+ years of QC experience or QA experience

- Experience of Handling sophisticated equipment and knowledge of working principles of HPLC, GC-MS, ICPMS, PCR etc

- PCQI Certification

- ASQ QE/CQA Certification desired

- Knowledge of ISO17025 and/or NABL

- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, Black Belt or Master Black Belt Certification preferred

- Experience working in food and/or nutraceutical industry a plus

- Experience in using Agile PLM (or equivalent) and Oracle ERP (or equivalent) preferred.
