Position : Head-Warehousing Operations (Leading Retail Company)
Role :
- Manage the current Pan India Warehouses, Distribution Centres and Cold Storage facilities and strategically plan for new facilities to improve productivity
- Lead the development and delivery of Distribution planning
- Develop Distribution processes and management capability to ensure adequate Distribution forecasting
- Work with Property and IT to design and develop all buildings, equipment and systems required to fulfil Distribution Plans
- Lead the team to plan and manage service levels and stockholding to deliver agreed targets, particularly during critical trading periods
- Develop transport operations to deliver a cost effective, high quality service to stores aligned to local transport regulations and accommodating the variables in demand
- Develop local talent pools for filling Distribution vacancies
- Develop business cases that facilitates capital expenditure within Distribution and warehousing
- Build operating budgets that control costs and income
- Identify Distribution efficiencies to reduce costs
- Forecast and manage cost centre expenditure within budget ensuring effective use and control
- Negotiate with suppliers
- The role requires around 10-15 days of travel every month
Requirements :
- Ideally an Engg + MBA
- 12+ yrs of experience. Should have experience in setting up and managing multiple warehousing and distribution facilities ideally in the Food Retail/ FMCG Industry
- Strong Distribution Management experience with a successful track record of developing people, spotting talent and managing a remote team at senior level
- Extensive operations Experience
- A broad business leader able to develop balanced plans, which the business can afford to deliver
- Strong people management skills with experience of managing large teams with operational job activities
- Experience in managing large high throughput Distribution Centres
- Should have experience in dealing with labour issues
- Should have experience in working on Productivity based projects, process improvement projects
- Should be a Strategic Manager, being proactive, continuously planning ahead and ability to communicate the plans
- Good communication and Team building skills
- Collaborative and problem solving skills in resolving long and short term problems through cross functional coordination
- High level of customer orientation
