Head - Transition Accounting

About the team :

- Finance Reinsurance is undergoing a significant transformation that affects processes, organization and IT systems, such as valuation engines, sub ledgers, general ledgers and the reporting infrastructure. At the heart of the programme is the implementation of SAP S/4 HANA Finance as the global General Ledger and Cost Accounting solution. Numerous legal entities worldwide will be rolled in to SAP, which will require significant commitment from the existing subject matter experts in the respective legal entity accounting and reporting teams.

- In order to create additional capacity during the roll-in times, we are establishing a pool of financial accountants who will take responsibility for existing activities from subject matter experts so that the regular accounting and reporting activity for the legal entities will continue seamlessly. The mandate of the team will evolve over time, in line with the build-up of central know-how within the team and the progress of the legal entity roll-ins and Finance transformation.

Role Responsibilities :

- Lead the Transition Accounting Services team in Bangalore. Complete the set-up of the new team, fully embed it and manage the local on-boarding and training activities of any further new joiners

- Regular people management activities: Set goals in coordination with the relevant Team Leaders in the Legal Entity Roll-In (LERI) Teams supported by your team; monitor performance, coach and develop the team members; ensure time management; balance individual aspirations and organizational needs; plan and organize team travel for on-site stays

- Support the team in building and maintaining a strong professional network and communication and ensure alignment to local Bangalore requirements and processes

- Foster an environment of high collaboration, knowledge sharing, continuous improvement and contribute to establishing a great reputation of the team

- Lead the build up of central expertise in multiple accounting, valuation and reporting standards globally, including supporting documentation and knowledge transfer

- Handle the demand / capacity planning for the team in close coordination with the Head of the unit; Identify and allocate resources depending on the needs of the Legal Entity Roll-In teams

- As the legal entities supported will change over time, quickly establish a relationship with the Team leaders of the next assignment, get familiar with the relevant processes and regulations and ensure an effective support of your team during the next assignment

- Work with Legal Entity Finance teams along with your team members. Perform operational activities mandated to your team relating to regular accounting, General Ledger closing and reporting activities for legal entities worldwide using existing systems while the entities are being rolled in to the new General Ledger system (SAP).

- Effectively cooperate with the Legal Entity Finance teams both during on-site stays and subsequently from home using modern information sharing and communication tools

- Besides, contribute to programme management activities as appropriate, including roll-in planning, capacity and assignment planning, User Acceptance testing, etc.

Key Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience :

- Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, BS in Accounting or Finance, Master or Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field - Expertise in international accounting standards preferred (USGAAP)

- 10+ years relevant work experience in legal entity controllership and financial accounting and reporting. At least 3 years demonstrated experience in leading and developing high performance teams.

- Work experience in global firms and project environments are strong assets

- Excellent leadership and analytical skills with the ability to deliver quality output with short deadlines and to manage details without losing the sight of the big picture

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at management level and lead meetings efficiently, including virtual meetings using modern communication tools

- Experience working in a highly professional, international and fast paced environment

- Strong coaching and mentoring skills

- Strong relationship building and networking skills

- Fluent in English (any other European language a plus)

- Demonstrated experience in successfully working in a matrix environment with multiple reporting lines and people from different backgrounds and cultures

- Ability to travel globally including extended stays abroad of up to several weeks

- Results oriented with strong sense of urgency

- Self-starter and ability to work under time pressure and independently

- Knowledge of insurance, reinsurance or financial services is a plus

- Excellent command of English (written and oral)

- Adaptability to changing priorities and working environments

- Absolutely integer and reliable
