Our client is a professionally-managed multinational company that invests in and manages world class road and highway projects along with other select infrastructure sectors in India. It is among the fastest growing road infra companies in India and has been well recognized on various quality parameters. Its shareholders are leading international investors and it is one of the most well funded companies in the space.

As a Head of Supply Chain, you will be responsible for Creating and implementing procurement strategies, understanding and optimizing the category cost structure, terms and conditions to reduce cost, lead time, and risk.

What you will do:

Procurement Planning:

- Reviewing, optimizing, and ensuring proper communication of the procurement policy.

- Issuing bid invitations/RFQs and requests for qualifications/proposals/letters of interest.

- Receiving, examining, and/or processing requisitions for assigned commodities and equipment; planning specific short and long-range commodity objectives.

- Interviewing and corresponding with vendors.

- Surveying markets to determine the best source, new sources, market conditions, and trends.

- Consolidating annual requirements for commodities common to several departments for blanket orders.

- Investigating the possibility of improving quality without price increase by substituting a lower-price commodity that will accomplish the same function.

- Reviewing emergency requests and solicits informal bids for large purchases from selected sources.

- Heading the end-to-end Purchase Process, guidelines, and policies for procuring services/material, etc.

- Evaluating historical data of purchasing experience, developing procurement schedules, drafting contracts for goods and services, negotiating, and surveying markets for best or new supply sources.

Vendor Management:

- Negotiating costs with vendors, identifying challenging contract risk areas and providing input on risk mitigation and cost management

- Assessing current and evolving business models in the marketplace to serve as the subject matter expert for procurement

- Leading Continuous Improvement initiatives to simplify and standardise processes and policies.

- Ability to close complex deals in a timely fashion by applying cause and effect thinking to identify contract risk areas.

Contract Management & Vendor Governance:

- Managing the vendor life cycle including vendor discovery to ensure quality vendor base, development, and performance assessment to ensure quality & timely execution of projects.

- Evaluating and/or monitoring vendor performance based on knowledge of prices, delivery, and information received from departments and Project Managers relative to product/work acceptability and vendor service. Make recommendations for vendor participation in future solicitations.

- Monitoring and measuring adherence to the procurement policy.

- Vendor Empanelment.

- Contract Management & Process Execution with New and Existing Vendors.

- Completing Vendor Management & Rationalisation (Identification, Selection, Development, and Consolidation) including Vendor Disengagement and overall Business Allocation.

- Strong understanding of contracting principles with the ability to create a contract from a standard company or customised contract templates with limited supervision; capable of drafting contract solutions in known contract risk areas to obtain acceptable outcomes with limited supervision

- Collaborating with Legal and other finance functions for seamless processing of purchases.

People Management:

- Mentoring and coaching team members on an ongoing basis to enhance their professional and negotiation skills.

- Building a strong and motivated team.

- Building a team with high integrity.

What you need to have:

- Ideally an Engineer /MBA with at least 20-22 years of experience in procurement and contracts from infrastructure, EPC business, real estate, hospitality, or related industries.

Experience in Road sector would be preferred.

- Must be fully conversant and hands-on with the procurement and execution of services procurement & contracts as these will be a major portion of the procurement budget.

- Must be fully conversant with SAP's SCM module and workflow.

- Highest level of integrity and good judgment, with the ability to effectively deal with highly sensitive, confidential information and escalate any conflict of interest immediately.

- Detail-oriented, highly organised with an eye for detail. Prior experience of having gathered, structured, monitored, and validated data to ensure data integrity and detailed documentation; has developed a habit of checking the accuracy of data and analysis several times over before submitting for review.

- Significant expertise in setting up automated processes to increase the effectiveness of the team and minimise room for error.

- Strong communicator, both written & verbal; reliable and responsive to email and phone communications.
