Head - Supply Chain - Educational Games Startup (10-15 yrs)

Our client offers a subscription-based service for kids that offers an inquiry and play-based program for early childhood learning at home for children. It is a startup founded by alumni from IIT, IIM and Georgia Tech that is backed by industry veterans and funded by top-tier venture capital firms. We design, develop and deliver activity kits to the homes of the subscribers every month on a subscription basis. The boxes contain all material and instructions for hands-on fun activities that children in the age group of 2-12 years can do with their parents. Over the last 4 years, the company has grown over 100% every year.

As the Head - Supply Chain, you will be responsible for the implementation and evaluation of all supply chain logistics activities and procedures, including, but not limited to, production planning, material procurement, inventory control, rate setting, outsourcing, vendor selection, and shipment and logistics.

You will also be responsible to evaluate the organization's supply chain performance against projected costs and timelines.

What you will do:

- Responsible for coordinating supply chain activities across all units of the organization

- Working effectively across the organization to ensure successful execution of supply chain support on many integrated efforts

- Developing and managing Materials Planning function for goods and materials needed for Company operations

- Creating item specific forecasts over a rolling time horizon to be used for ordering and inventory management purposes

- Creating integrated processes among Operations, Purchasing, Logistics, and outside suppliers to execute the planning/replenishment process

- Identifying systems tools needed to implement planning/forecasting systems

- Leading re-engineering efforts as it relates to supply chain planning and execution systems

- Managing and supervising staff tasked with creating material requirement plans and/or forecasts

- Establishing key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to supply chain planning/forecasting

- Measuring actual performance against goals on regular basis and present results to senior management

- Performing life cycle cost studies

- Defining integrated logistics support requirements

- Preparing estimates, schedules, and support system inputs

- Coordinating development of solutions to complex logistics support problems with other product support functions, customers, and suppliers

- Coordinating transportation for the corporation with customer-driven manufacturing timelines

- Developing and implementing logistics plans inclusive of supplier contracts, routing guidelines, problem resolution and cost containment

- Managing third-party vendor relationships related to Logistics

- Managing international and domestic flow of materials

- Evaluating supply chain needs and selection of shipment modes

- Working with carriers and customs brokers to expedite shipments

- Forecasting issues in advance to prevent potential impacts - both internally and externally

- Creating and managing budgets effectively

Candidate Profile:

- MBA from reputed institute (Tier-1/2 colleges)

- Minimum 10-12 years of supply chain experience - must understand the procurement cycle, warehouse management, shipment logistics etc.

- Should have at least 3-4 years of experience in the e-commerce space

- Ability to effectively operate in a fast-moving start-up environment

- Possess knowledge of supply chain activities, including transformation of natural resources, raw materials, and components into a finished product that is delivered to the end customer

- Knowledge of how supply chains link value chains

- Facilitates communication between team members to ensure efforts are aligned

- Should take accountability for delivering on commitments 


- Owning mistakes and using them as opportunities for learning and development

- Making confident, fact-based, decisions and acting on decisions with a sense of calculated risk taking

- Approaching problems from different perspectives to suggest and implement solutions

- Excellent communication skills
