1. POSITION (S) VACANT: Head - Programs, IIMPACT, Gurugram

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Established in 2003, IIMPACT is an initiative of alumni of the batch of 1978, from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, providing primary education across India, to young girls from socially and economically disadvantaged communities, with no access to schooling.

The vision and mission of IIMPACT is to transform the lives of women, families and entire communities in India by the education and empowerment of the girl child, by mobilizing and motivating non-school going girls, between the ages of 6 and 14, from economically and socially backward rural areas and providing them high-quality, relevant education at IIMPACT Learning Centres.

IIMPACT has helped +50,000 girls in 1,500 villages in 11 states of India, to date. Of these over 26,000 girls have completed primary education at IIMPACT Learning Centres and joined mainstream, government-run, upper primary and secondary education institutions. Over the years, IIMPACT has developed a clear strategy and a proven delivery model, both in terms of social outcomes, as well as scalability.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

IIMPACT wishes to hire a high-energy, result-oriented development professional, with a strong interest in managing educational programs and proven competency in program and operations management, as Head- Programs.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Head - Programs (HP) shall be responsible for planning, coordinating and managing IIMPACTs educational programs, including day to day operations, as well as actively participating in strategic planning, grant development, deployment and administration. The incumbent shall also be involved in operationalizing the organisations strategies and operational plans by overseeing program delivery and educational quality. S/he shall additionally be responsible for strengthening and building the capacity of implementing partners in the field, enabling them to add the highest possible value to the organization and its initiatives.

Key Job Responsibilities:

A. Program Management

(1) Develop a robust operational plan involving deadlines, milestones and processes;

(2) Design and develop funding proposals/concept notes responsive to donor requirements and demonstrating a sound understanding of the concepts of results and outcome frameworks like Result Based Management (RBM), Log frame, Analysis, Resource Based Planning and Project Budgeting;

(3) Work with the Resource Centres Team to assess the performance of children, as well as teachers, apart from evaluation strategies for monitoring the performance of partners and determining the need for improvement;

(4) Conduct regular review visits and meetings with partners and field teams, read reports prepared by managers to determine progress and address issues requiring mid course correction;

(5) Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies of the organisation;

(6) Keep senior management informed with detailed and accurate reports and/or presentations on operational quality and educational outcomes;

(7) Identify fundraising opportunities and liaise with Donor Engagement Department to respond to collaboration opportunities;

(8) Hire, train, supervise and evaluate all program staff.

B. Program Operations

(1) Provide strategic direction to Field Teams for planning, management and ensuring the quality of program deliverables;

(2) Ensure that all grants are well planned, managed and reported, achieve objectives, and implemented within agreed budgets and timeframes;

(3) Ensure interpretation and compliance with relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards, in collaboration with administrative staff;

(4) Showcase IIMPACT s expertise in girls education at various forums;

(5) Develop and regularly track budgets along with the Finance Department, ensuring that programs operate within financial parameters approved by the Board.

C. Partner Relationship and Strengthening

(1) Lead the conceptualization, design and implementation of IIMPACTs overall strategy and approach towards partner strengthening in line with its vision and objectives;

(2) Strengthen existing partnerships and build new ones with local NGOs to deliver quality programs within applicable timelines;

(3) Take a lead role in developing and maintaining a strong relationship with Civil Society, apart from coordinating with Civil Society groups working in the area of education;

(4) Ensure overall program compliance and audit.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualification

Applicants must have a post-graduate degree in Development Studies, Education, Social Development, or other relevant discipline.

Experience

(1) 10 years of relevant experience in leading programmes for reputed, not-for-profit/ development organisations;

(2) Expertise in social development response in the areas of Education, Child Rights, Protection, Gender and Inclusion, and other child focused developmental areas;

(3) Prior experience of managing educational programs shall be preferred.

Skills and Competencies

(1) Proven experience in leadership/managerial positions;

(2) Thorough understanding of program management techniques and methods;

(3) Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics;

(4) Good knowledge of budgeting, data analysis and reporting;

(5) Excellent organizational and leadership skills;

(6) Good understanding of issues relating to identity and intersectionality;

(7) Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities;

(8) High degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently, tempered by a spirit cooperation and the ability to take direction from the Executive Director;

(9) Ability to develop and present educational programs;

(10) Excellent written and oral communications skills;

(11) Proficiency in Result Based Management (RBM), Log Frame, Analysis, Resource Based Planning, Project Budgeting etc.;

(12) Ability to establish a strong sense of purpose, high standards and a sense of urgency for self and others;

(13) Proficiency in MS Office applications like Word, Excel and PowerPoint;

(14) Ability to travel 12-15 working days in a month to IIMPACT intervention states.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
