Business Function : Product design

Direct Reporting to : Managing Director

Job Purpose :

Manage and coordinate the design and development of new products and improvements to existing products or product lines, by using design skills and technical knowledge. Evaluate and ensure design feasibility and design optimization

Key Accountabilities :

- Create product designs that fulfill the company's strategic goals while integrating the needs of marketing, sales and manufacturing departments

- Use his/her vast design skills and technical knowledge to grow company revenues by designing and developing new products & improving the way existing products work and look, and/or producing them at a lower cost

- Guide the Art, NPD & Packaging Managers in designing, creating and launching new products and making existing products better in terms of design, quality, packaging etc.

- Liaise with the R&D department & NPD manager to develop prototypes for products

- Work with vendors to identify issues with existing products & advise vendors on best practices and methods to correct issues

- Participate in quality assurance process by liaising with the Quality team - Ensure products are safe enough to be placed on shelves and sold

- Manage future and existing assigned products, set objectives and report on performance

- Establish milestone and objectives for designing and generating products from inception to commercialization for customers

- Survey the market and recommend new product strategies, plans, pricing and plans to meet customer needs and achieve business & functional goals

- Implement new design ideas and methods and continue to seek ways of both improving contribution to the organization's goals and enhancing the reputation of the company

- Excellent product design skills and the ability to see the bigger picture in terms of the performance of the product in the market

- Must have prior experience in Product design

- Must be strong in Product Planning Strategy, Sales & Marketing Concepts, Product Positioning, Competitive Analysis, Understanding the customer & consumer, Product Development

- Must have excellent idea about the current trends & customer buying behaviour in the FMCG sector

- Excellent planning, coordination and organizational skills

Experience & Educational Requirements :

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant business-related field from a reputed institute
