Has to develop and drive an overall sourcing strategy to ensure availability of raw materials like Iron Ore, Coal, Ferro-alloys, Billets etc Formulate mechanisms for identification, evaluation and approval of vendors (Domestic and exports) for procurement of allocated raw material categories Periodic review of procurement MIS reports to monitor sourcing cost, inventory levels, budget utilisation and analyse variance Forecast demand for critical raw material categories to be procured, by getting inputs from all plants and plan accordingly. Addition of vendor and rationalisation based on overall group requirements To ensure on-time availability of raw materials in plants need to guide corporate sourcing team, procurement team and plant team Implement practices in procurement of materials for operations and projects, materials management, vendor management, transaction processing and delivery management. Improve processes for minimisation of the lead time between order to supply of material to the production units To reduce cost he/she has to manage common sourcing across plants, especially of high-spend items like luxes, refractories, ferro-alloys, high-value spares. Review and manage the vendor base through a structured vendor rating and evaluation process, robust new vendor introduction process, Supplier relationship management initiatives and vendor retention & consolidation activities On daily basis one has to Supervise sourcing team and Plant procurement team and also ensure on-time availability of raw materials with least cost and best quality Negotiate with external stakeholders like suppliers/vendors for lower prices, better service levels, longer term contracts and favourable relationships with suppliers. Aim at significant reduction in procurement price through effective negotiations, market intelligence, reverse auctions etc.
