Head - Procurement - Africa based Chemical Manufacturing & Distribution Company

A Conglomerate Business with one of the fastest growing business concerns in Africa with business interests in the Chemical distribution, Logistics and healthcare industries.

Responsibilities :

a) To ensure strategic relationships with key suppliers from India and Southeast Asia.

b) To improve efficiency, availability, and cost of procurement.

c) To enhance capacity of the procurement team.

d) To leverage advantage of geographical proximity to India and Southeast Asia.

e) Ensure relationships with existing suppliers are deepened and made more strategic by connecting with appropriate key decision-makers.

f) Identify new Suppliers, especially agency relationships in the existing product range

g) Identify new products with good potential for distribution in Nigeria.

h) Deep understanding of the current business operations, product range, key people, and processes.

i) Understanding of current supplier base in India and Southeast Asia.

j) Detailed understanding of the historical trends of the trades from India and Southeast Asia.

Skills & Competencies :

- Experience buying, selling or production of downstream Chemical products.

- Deep and wide knowledge of the chemical industry, end-user industries, and manufacturers in India and Southeast Asia.

- Deep understanding of buying/ procurement/ supply chain process including documentation and regulatory requirements.

- 35-40 years, B Tech/ BE (Chemical), MBA preferred, experience range of 10-15 years

- Extensive experience working in India and Southeast Asia. Exposure to Dubai and/or Nigeria will be an advantage.

- Mature, high EQ, aggressive, and strong commercial judgment.

- Structured approach, problem-solving ability, and analytical skills.

- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

- Positive, strong work ethic, and ability to prioritize

- High Integrity

- Ability to work independently. Reasonable infrastructure to work from home
