Role Overview
As the Head of M&A, you will lead and expand the Mergers & Acquisitions vertical. This is a leadership role with full ownership of the M&A mandate lifecycle from origination to execution. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished M&A leader with deep expertise in deal structuring, financial strategy, and cross-border transaction management. You will serve as a strategic advisor to clients and lead a high-performing M&A team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Origination
- Lead origination and strategic direction of the M&A division.
- Identify target companies, evaluate fit, and advise clients on acquisition/divestment opportunities.
- Drive client engagement with senior stakeholders (Promoters, CXOs, Boards).
- Build strong relationships with private equity firms, global investors, and institutional partners to generate new mandates.
2. Transaction Execution & Deal Structuring
- Oversee complete transaction lifecycle: engagement, due diligence, valuation, negotiations, and regulatory compliance.
- Guide financial modeling, deal feasibility assessments, and investment memos.
- Structure deals across industries, geographies, and capital structures.
- Lead high-stakes negotiations and regulatory approvals in domestic and cross-border settings.
3. Client Advisory & Coordination
- Act as the trusted senior advisor to clients, offering insights on complex strategic decisions.
- Coordinate all client touchpoints, information gathering, and hand-holding during transactions.
- Provide sector-specific recommendations aligned with client growth strategies.
- Represent the firm in investor relations, boardrooms, and industry events.
4. Team Leadership & Development
- Mentor and lead a team of Vice Presidents, Associates, and Analysts.
- Supervise preparation of client deliverables financial models, investor decks, and pitch materials.
- Drive performance, collaboration, and client-first culture across the M&A division.
Candidate Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of total experience, with a strong track record in end-to-end M&A deal execution.
- Extensive exposure to mid-to-large-sized transactions, preferably across multiple sectors.
- Prior leadership of M&A teams and direct interaction with CXOs, Boards, and PE investors.
- Demonstrated experience in cross-border/multi-jurisdictional dealmaking.
Education
- Bachelors in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
- MBA, CFA, or equivalent post-graduate degree preferred.
Skills & Capabilities
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, valuation (DCF, LBO, comps), and transaction structuring.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.
- Deep understanding of global M&A markets, industry trends, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong leadership, people management, and communication skills.
Industry Exposure
- Must have strong domain knowledge of Investment Banking, with deep M&A execution experience.
- Familiarity with sectors like Infrastructure, Pharma, Real Estate, Energy, or Logistics is a plus.
