POSITION VACANT: Head - Livelihood (Farm Based), Jankidevi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sanstha, Pune, Maharashtra

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

- The Bajaj Group of companies have a strong CSR commitment, guided by the vision and philosophy of its Founder, the late Shri Jamnalal Bajaj. All CSR activities of the Bajaj Group are coordinated and undertaken through the Jankidevi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sanstha (JBGVS), the apex society and non-profit organisation of the group, established in 1987 and named after the late Padma Vibhushan Shrimati Jankidevi Bajaj.

- JBGVS works single-mindedly towards bridging the divide between urban and rural India, through integrated rural development interventions, designed with a view to ensuring achievement of the United Nations- Sustainable Development Goals. JBGVS interventions focus on five major areas, that include, Education, Healthcare, Environment, Economic Development and Social Development.

- JBGVS acts as a catalyst and assists the participating rural community in selected villages in improving their quality of life, through poverty alleviation, empowerment of women, gender equality and the development of human and natural resources, while promoting ecological balance. JBGVS works directly in more than 233 villages in Maharashtra, Rajasthan & Uttarakhand and indirectly reaches out to more than 7500 villages in targeted geographies. All JBGVS initiatives are designed in consultation with and the active participation of the local village community, for better acceptability and successful implementation.

JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Reporting to the CEO, JBGVS, the Head - Livelihood (Farm Based) [HLFB] shall be responsible for managing all program processes in respect of the organization's portfolio of livelihood projects, as well as, related infrastructure development.

- S/he will work closely with collaborators, partners, the CSR team, as well as the direct implementation team at JBGVS, and also engage with communities in rural as well as urban settings.The HLFB shall build the capacities of community based institutions as well as cadres of paraprofessionals at the grassroots, to map, analyze and assess opportunities for sustainable farm based livelihood within the realm of the current farming system and agro ecologies. Focus shall be on encouraging participation of the most vulnerable classes in the projects, so as to ensure that program efforts are replicable and yield sustainable results.

Key Deliverables:


(1) Map, evaluate and/or evolve opportunities to engage local communities in sustainable livelihood initiatives and manage processes ensuring inputs from all stakeholders, partners and collaborators, using participatory tools and techniques;

(2) Implement sustainable livelihood interventions, both local and regional ensuring overarching uniformity at the macro level and diversity at the micro level;

(3) Determine and build capacities of cadres of local paraprofessionals in the sustainable livelihood space;

(4) Facilitate the evolution of scientific Value Chain Approach (VCA), including the articulation of critical outcomes, applying local tactics, indigenous yet tested and scientific technologies and materials, engaging with appropriate agencies to handle sustainable livelihood initiatives;

(5) Facilitate institutionalization of VCA at the village, cluster, sub regional and regional levels and enable process innovation and economic gains;

(6) Facilitate evolution of the repository of sustainable livelihood development framework and information processes within the organization, enabling their smooth access and retrieval by interested stakeholders, including the CSR community;

(7) Facilitate evolution and deployment of well articulated SOPs within the overarching framework of the JBGVS

(8) Assist the multi-sectoral, multi-disciplinary and senior management teams at JBGVS across geographies, with expert inputs on livelihood;

(9) Provide inputs in developing the BCC tools for skill upgradation to the JBGVS team and/or its partners, collaborators, communities, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualification:

- Applicants must have a Masters Degree in Agriculture, Social Sciences, or relevant discipline, preferebaly from a top-tier institute.

Experience:

- 8 to 10 years of experience in designing and implementing, community-level livelihood programmes (Farm Based)

Note : Candidates falling short of the prescribed number of years of experience, but possessing quality/ exceptionally relevant experience, may also be considered.

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Demonstrated experience in facilitating adoption of improved agricultural practices, development of farmer-based organizations (FBOs) and strengthening of linkages to markets;

(2) Well versed with the Sustainable Rural Livelihood (SRL) framework, LFA and M&E tools to manage the theory of change;

(3) In-depth understanding of the keys issues impacting livelihood, pros and cons and costs of alternative approaches, is essential;

(4) Familiarity with NGO community and managing relationships with leading NGOs working in the livelihood space, specifically in Maharashtra/ Rajasthan/ Uttarakhand will be an added advantage

(5) Familiarity with online CSR MIS (Goodera P3);

(6) Knowledge of developing M&E and planning tools like LOGFRAME, etc.;

(7) Knowledge of CSR regulations and requirements;

(8) Excellent negotiation, influencing and communication skills;

(9) Excellent oral, written and presentation skills in English;

(10) Computer proficiency with expertise in Windows, MS Office and database software;

(11) Demonstratable ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment with strong facilitation skills, ability to analyze reports, plan and monitor projects;

(12) Should be able to take long strenuous job assignments with verve and vigor;

(13) Willing to travel in rural areas.

COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation for the position is Rs. 12 lacs per annum. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.

AGE LIMIT: This shall be a travel intensive role across all intervention areas of JBGVS and accordingly the preferred age for the incumbent shall be 35-45 years.

APPOINTMENT: The initial contract will be offered for a period of one year and shall be renewable based on performance.
