HEAD LIASION & COMPLIANCE - Law enforcement, Police / CID/ CBI Job Description As the Head and Director of Compliance and law enforcement relationship, you are a seasoned professional to advise on a wide range of matters in India and to play a role in relation to compliance with civil, criminal, legal, and regulatory obligations. You will be responsible for advising on the development of the Company's compliance approach to legal and regulatory obligations within India. You will be primarily responsible for educating and reinforcing the spirit of the Company's mission and principles as we grow and keeping our commitment to compliance. Essential Functions Communication: Communicates with the law enforcement, Police / CID/ CBI Department, and other agencies in order to answer inquiries and complaints, give directions, and explain actions to the Police Department and its policies and procedures. Provides information, gives instructions, and responds to questions from the public and agencies in order to enhance public relations and company brand equity. Prepares and reviews statistics and reports on departmental activities; recommendations regarding disciplinary actions; departmental policies and procedures. This is a full-time role located in India. You must be a resident of India. This role is part of the Legal team within the Organisation and will work out of to the company's headquarters in Bangalore. You will collaborate closely with colleagues providing your own subject-matter expertise, and seeking the expertise of others when needed. You must therefore be comfortable collaborating with colleagues from a wide variety of backgrounds, and managing internal and external stakeholders effectively the police, law enforcement, and other such agencies, all while advocating vigorously for the company. Responsibilities This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with prior experience interfacing with the police, law enforcement, and other such agencies and government officials on issues of importance. Primary Responsibilities Will include - Liaising between Company and government agencies on all kinds of legal requests received from various law enforcement organizations and government agencies relating to the Company platform. - Advise on corrective and preventative measures, including risk-based business enhancements, mitigation strategies, and training. Proactively identify potential risk areas regarding compliance with applicable Indian law and support reporting to executive and senior management. - Maintain and recommend enhancements to the operations, procedures, processes, and internal practical guidance governing regulatory compliance. - Potentially communicating Company s.s interest and positions at meetings, both routine and ad hoc, with government agencies on all types of legal requests, including but not limited to requests for content removal under s.69A of the IT Act and requests for user information - Working closely with Legal and external counsel in relation to governmental requests if needed. - Educating government agencies on Company's Terms of Service, Company Rules, and policies, and effectively educating government agencies on using Company's tools and processes to report violations and make legal requests. - Advising on compliance with best practices. Qualifications - You are a senior-career professional (minimum 15 years relevant work experience) with extensive experience coordinating with government agencies on matters of national importance. Relevant experiences could include direct government agency or law enforcement experience, prosecution, criminal investigation, and/or experience in a similar Internet/Tech safety and security role. - Familiarity with the Indian legal system, and in particular, network and knowledge, and experience with law enforcement and laws. Experience with reviewing, processing, and summarizing legal documents, such as court orders, statutory notices, search warrants, etc. - Demonstrated sound business and legal judgment, with a constructive approach to issue resolution. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust at all levels of the organization and collaborate with teams across the company - Good public speaking and presentation skills. Fluency in Kannada, English, and Hindi is a must. Fluency in another Indian language is an advantage. - Must be a resident of India. - Ability and willingness to work off-hours, including weekends and holidays, in order to support emergency matters. - Ability to travel (if required) within India (subject to prevailing COVID travel guidelines and restrictions) - Experience working in the public sector or with a major multinational company is preferred.
