Title: Legal Head for a leading firm

Location: Chennai

Our client is a fast growing established global firm with a strong focus on Software Products.

Purpose of role

The Head of Legal is a key senior position within the Organization and a key advisor from the legal perspective for all aspects of business.

Key Accountability

- Controlling, managing and directing the activities of the Legal function

- Ensuring that the CFO is at all times apprised of developments within the Function;

- Providing professional and strategic advice to the senior leadership team primarily CFO,

- Providing the Organization's Management, Board and Board Committees, as applicable, with high quality legal and related advice/analyses, tailored to their needs, on matters pertaining to all legal,

- Managing and co-coordinating the Organization's approach towards litigation/other proceedings to which the Organization is party or potentially party;

- Must have excellent contacts within the legal fraternity, knowledge & experience on corporate matters like setting up of companies under local laws.

- Drafting of legal contracts,

- Oversee Customer Agreements and making sure that all legal matters are brought to attention of the Management, and suggest changes (if any) to the CFO and negotiate,

- Managing the legal risks & contract management,

- Oversee all commercial contracts and SOW's.

- The key expectation would be to manage the legal risks of all these contracts, therefore each potential legal issue should be identified upfront and monitored diligently.

- This role is the main compliance officer of the company, where his job will be to implement compliance, measure and monitor.

- Implementing and managing appropriate systems and processes to ensure the Organizations, and its directors- /managements, ongoing compliance with their respective responsibilities and obligations under law, regulation and other applicable codes.

Skills / Knowledge competencies - Must have:

- 18+ years of total experience with strong academic record,

- Legal experience in an IT environment is highly desirable,

- Having led Legal function for a large organization and understanding of complexities in a global set-up is a must,

- Understanding of legal nuances for multiple geographies for an IT set-up is desirable,

- Experience of managing complex contracts in an IT set-up with global clients is mandatory,
