HEAD OF LEGAL - CORPORATE


This is a senior position reporting into the General Counsel. The Head of Legal (Corporate) is tasked with managing the legal affairs of the company vis- vis the corporate ecosystem (mergers, alliances, compliance issues & transactions). The candidate is expected to be adept at drafting the legal documentation and managing the contracts within a timebound manner. As a member of the senior management team, the Head of Legal (Corporate) will be responsible to ensure that the company's transactions shall comply with the territory laws and regulations, while proactively helping the company to avoid possible legal complexities. Experience in the media field is a must.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

- To consult and lead all corporate legal processes such as mergers, alliances, compliance issues, transactions and lawsuits.

- To design and oversee the company's policy and position on legal matters.

- To develop a network of associates across various Indian states to support the regional business heads in urgent matters.

- To participate in the regional strategies from a legal perspective.

- To adeptly draft the legal documentation and manage the contracts within a timebound manner.

- To conduct sessions on a periodic basis to apprise the senior management team of any cases related to the competitor's landscape or such other companies operating, to enhance the vision or be vigilant while conducting business in future.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS :

- A Graduate Degree in Law with a minimum 15 years of post-qualification work experience in the similar capacity.

- A work experience in the similar business vertical, as the company is involved in, will be preferred, though, it is not a sine qua non.

- The position requires deep understanding of various laws and guidelines pertaining to the digital content distribution industry (Cable TV, DTH, HITS etc.) and TRAI-related regulations extending to OTT, broadband and other media.

- A strong research & customer orientation coupled with analytical, networking and negotiation skills.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English and Hindi Language is mandatory.

- Strong grasping power to understand the business and its requirement.

- A good team leader with prior experience in managing & building a team.

- Should not be wary of performing in a fast-paced business environment where innovation remains a constant feature.
