Position: Head Legal Affairs

Purpose To provide strategic legal support to the Business

This position reports to Chairman and Managing Director of a Rs 5000+ cr group. The candidate must be very good in his/her communication, smart, sharp and confident. Must be proficient in the Acts mentioned below.

Location: Hyderabad

Education: Full time 5 years Law Course from reputed Institution/University

Compensation: Around INR 25 Lakhs Per Annum

Experience:

- 10+ yrs as a Lead Legal Affairs, Legal Head, Corporate Lawyer, Lawyer in corporate o or regulatory affairs/litigations. Consumer forums, contract laws for debt recovery in Agri businesses or sectors like Pharma, FMCG, Food processing, etc.

- Previous work experience in Agri-input companies involved in Seeds, Fertilisers, Pesticides, machinery, etc. preferable.

- Hands-on experience in litigation, debt recovery, consumer forum

- Excellent Drafting Skills, Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

- Exposure to Contract law, Consumer laws, Civil and Criminal procedures.

- Knowledge of Seed, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) / The Protection of Plant Variety and Farmers Right (PPVFR) Laws is an added advantage

Job Description

Report to the CEO/CMD and shall be responsible for the overall responsibilities of legal and regulatory compliance of the company and its subsidiary companies.

Manage the following legal functions in an end-to-end manner as per the job responsibilities, standard operating procedures and management guidelines/directives/decisions applicable for the legal function.

- Debt Recovery cases

- Contract and other legal cases

- Regulatory cases (Seeds Act, SCO, Cotton Acts, Legal Metrology, etc.)

- Notices under Regulatory laws

- PR matters (PPV law/Patent/Trademarks/Copyright/etc.)

- Any other legal matters related to Business.

The incumbent will have track record of study, analysis and preparation effective and high-quality legal advice to departmental heads within a business, leading to enhanced integrity in both internal and external affairs of business linked with legal aspects.

The incumbent will manage a MIS and tracker on progress status on resolution of cases and present the reports on the progress to the management on a fortnightly basis.

The incumbent will represent the Company and its subsidiaries in all Courts, Judicial and legal forums, Consumer forums, Dispute resolution and arbitration forums as per the advice of the management and as per legal/business requirements.

- To have the ability to analyse and identify the legal risks of all of the business transactions and manage and improve the systems for the effective management of the legal risks.

- To be able to provide leadership and guidance to the legal team and implement key legal processes to handle various types of operational litigations.

- To be able to manage the resources effectively and adhere to the allocated budget for legal activity.

- To understand the past, ongoing, latest developments and emerging trends of regulatory and legal changes and can analyse the potential effect on the business.

- To provide mentorship to develop key legal department personnel, encouraging their professional growth, and grooming them for taking on higher responsibilities.

- To be able to provide legal counsel to Senior leadership across the business with strategic and operational guidance, aiding them in the management of litigation issues such as contract disputes and product liability.

- To be a result-driven and service-driven individual, with exceptionally good problem-solving skills, be highly adaptable and flexible, work comfortably in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and meet tight deadlines, be proactive and self-motivated, have a keen eye for detail, and have the ability to remain calm and composed during times of uncertainty and stress.

- To possess good leadership skills having the ability to influence cross-functional teams towards a unified direction along with the business senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.

- To have the ability to identify and remedy complex legal issues without inviting the services of external legal advice.

- The incumbent will have a team of 4-5 associates reporting to the position, for managing the entire function.
