Head - IT PMO - Education Sector (12-16 yrs)

- The Head, IT PMO will be responsible for providing the required leadership, coordination, management and reporting to ensure IT programs critical to business success are completed on time and within budget, whilst also delivering to the goals defined by Project Charters.

- The IT PMO will be responsible for vendor management, effective communication and collaboration on projects, driving the required levels of focus, prioritizations and resource allocation from all stakeholders to successfully deliver key projects and programs.

Key responsibilities -

- Define and implement the project management governance and methodologies to ensure effective working between the Enterprise IT and Business Unit teams.

- Manager vendors, tracking their performance against agreed SLA's, reporting and communication

- Establish standards for project and program management capabilities, skills and tools ((MS Project, PPM Studio, Jira etc...) that adhere to best in class industry standards and disciplines.

- Implement and manage the Project Gate approval/prioritization process, to ensure executive stakeholders have the required information to assess the value, impact and strategic alignment of new program and project requests.

- Provide visibility of program and project statuses and risks through the implementation of automated dashboards.

- Monitor and manage compliance to processes, policies and standards.

- Work with IT Delivery managers to establish the project timeframes and deliverables and define the required levels of skills and resources to meet project demand.

- Ensure committed resources are allocated to projects and review resource productivity regularly to optimize productivity and escalate need for additional resources/funding as appropriate.

- Manage the risk, issue and change management process ensuring corrective actions are taken as required.

- Implement and manage the Project Close process to assess performance to project chart (i.e. conformance to budget, performance to project timeframes, deliverables achieved, transition to business operations, lessons learned, etc.)

- Strengthen the IT PMO organization, recruiting and managing resources in line with business requirements.

- Provide real-time, ongoing motivation, coaching, guidance, feedback and mentoring support to the team.

- Manage relationships with third-party vendors.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE :

- An engineering graduate preferably with an MBA with 12 to 16 yrs experience.

- Strong Vendor management experience of managing of Tier I SI partner

- 10+ years of experience managing projects.

- Extensive experience managing projects using both agile and waterfall methodologies

- Excellent oral and written communications skills

- Motivated self-starter able to manage multiple projects, tasks and challenges.

- Proficiency in process diagramming and project management tools like MS VISIO, MSWord, MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint.

- 5+ years of budgeting, forecasting, capacity planning and staff allocation.

- PMP or equivalent project management experience or previous experience working with a PMO.
