Head - Human Resource - Railroad Firm (10-15 yrs)

This is regarding a relevant opportunity with a leading integrated railroad company based in Kolkata.

Role: Head-HR

Salary : As per industry standard

Location : Kolkata.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Strategic HR - Part of leadership team guiding Management on people organization and restructuring. Driving HR strategy in organization. Effective coordination with Board of Directors.

2. Policy Management - To define and lay down policies as required from time to time for all operational aspects for all SBU. Restructuring of existing people policies and adoption of new policies for effective functioning of organization. Adopt parent company policies wherever necessary and check viability as per Indian laws and practices.

3. HR Operations & Statutory Compliance - Manage entire employee lifecycle. Define TAT and ensure employee satisfaction through high speed delivery of services. Ensure multiple labour compliances across India, through help of a Statutory Compliance Partner. Effective handling of disciplinary action, grievance re-dressal .

4. Recruitment - Budgeting, approvals and timely closure of hiring, both permanent and contractual. Ensuring process and quality with effective time management, according to business need to hire. Strategize and personally take care of very senior level hiring (CXO level).

5. Employee motivation and retention - Attract quality talent and instil an efficient and transparent culture to retain talent. Create an environment for people to learn, grow and practice high ethical standards.

6. Instilling culture of growth and performance - Set a healthy competitive environment where employees strive as a team to achieve organizational goals. To recognize and reward talent frequently. Define and manage the appraisal mechanism to ensure transparency and effectiveness. Ensure need based trainings, to improve employee effectiveness and boost morale.

7. Effective control and monitoring of operations - Direct involvement in key Administrative function and control. Review operational efficiency, incorporate checks and balances in the system. Identify and stop drainage of resources, attempt best utilization of available inputs.

8. Process Enhancement - Review existing processes. Assess future needs of the organization and implement suitable processes which can add value and withstand expansion of operations.

9. HR Systems - To determine and implement best possible IT solutions for HR systems.

10. Training - Evaluating training needs and driving the culture towards knowledge building and resource development.

11. Audit facilitation and score - responsible for handling different types of audit formalities (both internal & external) relating to administrative and HR operations, IT, statutory compliance etc. To maintain high audit score for the function as well as circle.

12. Contract Compliance & Management: Ensure the HR staffs are knowledgeable about contract compliance and advise the management on contract negotiations with labour employment.

Pre-requisites :

- 10 + years of work experience as a Head of HR Operations or similar role

- Experience with Human Resources Information Systems including payroll tools

- Experience in designing compensation and benefits programs

- Good knowledge of labour legislation

- Excellent organizational and leadership skills

- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

- Diligent and firm with high ethical standards- MBA in Human Resources Management

- Engineering background preferred

- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
