Head of Health Underwriting

Job Description :

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Head of Health Underwriting to join our team in India. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the health insurance market in India, as well as a proven track record of success in underwriting and risk management.

Responsibilities :

- Lead the health underwriting team and ensure that all underwriting activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures.

- Develop and implement underwriting strategies that meet the company's risk appetite and financial objectives.

- Monitor and analyze underwriting results to identify areas for improvement.

- Work with other departments to ensure that the company's health insurance products are competitive and meet the needs of customers.

- Represent the company at industry events and meetings.

Day-to-Day Duties :

- Review and approve underwriting decisions.

- Manage the underwriting workflow and ensure that all policies are issued in a timely manner.

- Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines.

- Conduct market research and analysis.

- Negotiate with reinsurers.

- Manage the underwriting budget.

30-Day Plan :

- Meet with the underwriting team to get up to speed on current projects and initiatives.

- Review the company's health insurance products and identify areas for improvement.

- Develop a plan to implement the underwriting strategies.

- Establish relationships with key stakeholders in the health insurance industry.

60-Day Plan :

- Implement the underwriting strategies.

- Monitor and analyze underwriting results.

- Make adjustments to the underwriting strategies as needed.

- Work with the product development team to ensure that new health insurance products meet the needs of customers.

90-Day Plan :

- Complete the implementation of the underwriting strategies.

- Achieve the company's underwriting goals.

- Develop a plan for the next 180 days.

- Identify and develop new talent for the underwriting team.

180-Day Plan :

- Continue to achieve the company's underwriting goals.

- Develop a plan for the next 365 days.

- Implement a continuous improvement program for the underwriting team.

- Publish white papers and articles on health insurance underwriting.

365-Day Plan :

- Continue to achieve the company's underwriting goals.

- Become a recognized expert in health insurance underwriting.

- Be promoted to a senior leadership position.

Leadership :

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who is able to motivate and inspire the underwriting team. They will be able to build consensus and create a positive work environment. They will also be able to effectively communicate with senior management and other departments.

Qualifications:

- Degree in business administration or a related field.

- 10+ years of experience in health insurance underwriting.

- Proven track record of success in underwriting and risk management.

- Strong leadership and communication skills.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
