Head - Finance - NGO (10-15 yrs)
This role is accountable for financial, accounting and compliance operations of our organisation.
This includes responsibility for a compliance framework and continuous development and monitoring of financial and internal controls and systems and also working closely with our partners to ensure compliance.
Location: Mumbai
Reports to: CFO
Responsibilities:
To provide operational leadership in finance and accounts, compliance and risk management functions and to strengthen various internal controls and systems. The Manager will also be responsible for financial planning, budgeting, donor, management, Board and statutory reporting, financial policies and investment management process.
Key responsibility areas include:
1. Maintenance of day to day accounts, bank reconciliation, monthly MIS, TDS and other statutory compliances etc.
2. Coordination and smooth completion of various audits through the year viz Statutory,
3. Internal, FCRA, tax and donor audits
4. Ensure that budgets for all initiatives and functions are in line with our priorities, forecast financial performance and fund flow requirements, and optimize resource planning
5. Creation and monitoring of budgets, tracking and reporting utilization and variances through monthly, quarterly and annual cadence to Management, Audit Committee, and Board
6. Accurate and compliant donor reporting and liaising with project teams for budgets in donor proposals
7. Stakeholder management with key internal and external stakeholders including auditors, tax and compliance authorities, banks, donors
8. Ensure financial controls of our activities and report to CFO by implementing transparent mechanisms
9. Manage team members in the finance team through coaching, mentoring and continuous feedback and guidance
10. Leverage technology (ERP) to streamline and maintain efficient processes
11. Manage investments of funds through effective treasury operations
Desired Skills and Experience
1. Minimum 10 years of experience in leading and managing finance and accounts function
2. A qualified Chartered Accountant. Added qualification of Company Secretary/LLB would be preferred though not absolutely essential.
3. High level of competency in financial and tax matters as well as managing audits and compliance matters
4. Advanced knowledge and proficient in excel. Ability to manage/ accurately process large financial data in excel and analyse financial information effectively
5. Experience in working with ERP system
6. High standards of integrity, ethics and professionalism
7. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
8. Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills
9. Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural team
10. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
