Head - Finance Centre Of Excellence - Technology Initiatives (10-15 yrs)

Context /Purpose of the Job :

- The position is responsible for driving digital initiatives for Finance organization by leveraging the benefits that technology has to offer. The position needs to identify the possible areas of opportunities, conceptualize a road map and decide upon the automation necessary in consultation with stakeholders, IT Team and external implementation partners, if required. Prioritization of initiatives would also be a major task after comparing the relative importance of various requests and keeping in mind the on-going IT initiatives.

- The incumbent is also required to take up and play a project management role in the implementation of mega projects of longer duration for addressing long term goals of finance function dovetailing the requirements with the needs of affiliate companies. The position needs to drive and collaborate with cross functional teams to obtain the maximum benefit possible for Finance. It requires a facilitator's role to be played along with deep involvement wherever necessary, identify resources and remove hindrances that might come in the way of implementation.

- The position requires engagement and interactions with Senior Management for direction setting w.r.t the technology to implement as also regular updates on the progress achieved against plans. The position requires regular interactions and engagement with the IT department, Chiefs and Heads of Finance and external consultants for development, implementation and roll outs of various IT initiatives to address the needs of internal customers. The incumbent is also required to interact with Group Companies for cross functional endeavors in the technology space.

- The incumbent would be required to deal with officers across various impact levels in the organization on a regular as well as on need basis for gathering their views and understanding opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities :

- Responsible for conceptualizing, deciding, and driving technology initiatives for the entire Finance organization.

- Identify possible areas where opportunity exists for automation with associated costs and benefits, prioritize the automation necessary after comparing with other areas and keeping in mind the on-going IT projects.

- To provide leadership and drive cross functional teams to obtain the maximum amount of benefit possible for the Finance organization through automation. This entails taking on a PMO role.

- Play the role of a facilitator along with deep involvement wherever necessary, identify and deploy resources, obtain sanctions from Senior Management, and monitor progress against IT plans.

- Interactions and engagement with Senior Management to discuss and decide upon the long-term IT plans for the division (Mega Projects) and prepare a road map for their implementation in consultation with external advisors and internal stakeholders. Reporting on the progress made against such plans.

- Regular discussions and collaboration with IT department, Chiefs and Heads in Finance and external service providers/consultants to improve the services provided by Finance function to its customers in an organized and automated manner driving efficiency and effectiveness.

- Engage with Tata Steel Group Companies whenever needed for IT interventions and leveraging technology so that the overall group objectives are met from a technology standpoint.

- Understanding the applicability and use of new technologies in possible areas of the ir deployment within the Finance function and tracking the trends in the use of new technology globally to keep abreast of the changes being ushered in. This would involve need based interaction with technology firms as well as finance teams of other large companies.

- Promote and provide a framework for training of finance professionals in IT tools and techniques for their up skilling.

- 10+ Years of experience in Finance function with exposure to leading technologies in Finance across SAP S4HANA, Robotic Process Automation (Automation Anywhere, UiPath), Blackline or other reconciliation tools, Visualisation tools (Tableau, Power BI), SAP Business Warehouse, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Analytics etc.

Additionally, exposure to following technologies will have an added advantage :

a) SAP Central Finance

b) SAP Disclosure Management

c) SAP Vendor Invoice Management

d) Blockchain

e) Anaplan

Technical Competencies:

a) Strong experience of having worked in SAP (preferably implemented). Ability to understand and convert user requirements to IT specs

b) Deep Knowledge of Finance Processes

c) Business knowledge and understanding of manufacturing organisations

d) Analytical skills and a working knowledge of applicable statutes

e) Understanding of leading / new age technologies and the situations in which they are used in the Finance function

f) Flair for technology use and a keen interest in technology changes occurring in Finance
