Job Description :

Position Name Title : EHS Head

Function/Discipline : Environment, Health & Safety

Project/Office Name : Chennai Head Quarters

Business Unit : Heavy Civil Infrastructure IC

Reporting to : Vice President

Duties & Responsibilities :


- Understand the company's IC EHS Integrated Management System (IMS) and ensure it is implemented throughout all BU operations and projects.

- Understand & promote company's L.I.F.E.(Living - Injury - Free - Everyday) program and Zero Harm Vision and ensure EHS leadership training program is delivered throughout the projects.

- Stop the project work if unsafe practices are witnessed.

- Support project set up and early mobilization of EHS staff to Project sites

- Carry out EHS Risk Management to ensure each project is audited twice in a year.

- Advice the Cluster Head/Project Heads about areas of weakness within the EHS IMS system.

- Provide EHS reports to the IC EHS Head, Cluster Head and Project Heads to inform them of the status of EHS performance.

- Co-ordinate the activities of independent EHS Consultants.

- Generate an awareness of EHS as an integral part of good management.

- Make recommendations to the appropriate management on all matters relating to EHS.

- Support project incident investigations and review reports prior to issue to management. Attend all fatal and serious injury cases.

- Collate and collect accident, incident and near miss reports. Prepare reports and distribute information on EHS matters relative to the prevention of accidents and matters relating to general EHS performance to IC EHS Head.

- Maintain effective communications with the Project EHS Managers, Project Heads, Cluster Head & BU Heads to ensure an adequate flow of EHS information relating to the EHS performance.

- Monitor the provision of EHS training and advice on training requirements.

- Liaise with the HR function to ensure that records of training are fully maintained within the Cluster.

- When requested provide input into the tendering process to ensure that statutory requirements are planned into projects at the earliest opportunity.

- Visit project sites on a regular basis, meeting with the project leaders, JV partners, clients and report to the Cluster Head on the findings.

- Use disciplinary procedures in consultation with the Cluster Head & HR Head if any employee or contractor is careless with regard to their own or others Safety.

Job Specification :

- Education Qualifications Engineering Diploma / Graduate (Any Discipline) / Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety or Equivalent from RLI/CLI

- Certification CSP / CMIOSH / NEBOSH

- Work Experience (in years) : 25 - 30 Years

Knowledge : Knowledgeable on Risk Management, Resource Management, project tendering, costing , Knowledge of regulations

Skills : Incident Analysis, Environmental compliance, Communication

Remarks If any : Should have work experience in Infrastructure projects Mainly ( Marine , Tunnel, Special Bridges, Hydel)
