Position Description : Head - Engineering

Role :

The incumbent is the technical expert for the division and is responsible for all design and development activities including pre-sales, product management, customization, new product development, process establishment / improvements and other industrial engineering activities. This role also takes care of the tooling requirements of the production team.

Level of Supervision :

- In-Charges NPD & Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Product Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Tooling.

Internal Relationships :

- Marketing / BD : Interactions on responding to RFQs, clarifications from customers, market inputs, etc.

- Production : Interaction on aspects related to product requirements, design, etc.

- Quality : Interactions on process / product quality assurance, improvements, etc

- Finance : Interactions on pricing, vendor payments for tooling, machining, etc

External Relationships :

- Existing & Potential Customers : Interactions on specific requirements, technical support, etc

- Potential Vendors : Interactions for sourcing requirements as a part of indigenization drive

- Vendors / Sub-contractors : Interactions on outsourcing requirements for tooling / machining, etc

Age : 40 Years Above

Qualifications : BE (E&C, EEE, Telecommunication) or M.E/M.Tech

Experience : 20 & Above years

Additional Requirements if any : SAP / ERP/ CAD/CAE/Pro E/Unigraphics/ Solidworks

Key Responsibilities :

- Handles product management aspects of the division

- Manages the design & development activities including New Product Development and customization of existing products

- Oversees the industrial engineering activities for the plant

- Ensures tooling requirements of the plant are met adequately

- Heads the order management function

RFP stage :

- Review, assign resources, interacts with customer and ensure completion of RFQ on time with accuracy

- NRE-Co-ordinates with process engineering & QE, analyses the NRE cost requirements for each project and provides input to sales/ costing team

Labour hour estimation :

- Creating technical proposals as part of the bid

- Constantly reviewing & creating systems,standards, process to ensure the speed, accuracy & time

MIS :

- Support sales for business development as technical support.

Post order :

- Interact with customer, create drawings and finalize, approve technical data package

- System Set-up, master data creation

- Contract review, risk assessment and transfer the project to process, quality & Production

- Study customer requirements, standards and ensure compliance in specific products and process

- Create process planning, FMEA, WI / SOP etc as part of manufacturing data package

- Analyse Tools & equipment requirements and procure

- Constantly interact with internal & external stake holders to address all the technical clarification tilll the FA stage.

- Provide Training to production team for every new project.

- Manage engineering changes / modification as technical POC during the course of the project.

Product Management :

- Manages the range of products offered by the company including those supplied through partners

- Analyzes the market in terms of competition, allied products, alternatives, etc to add / modify the range of products

- Facilitates Value Engineering to improve existing products

- Guides the In-Charge Product Engineering in developing the roadmap for the organization in terms of product portfolio based on the lifecycle of different products and their variants as well as a forecasting of the market / business

2. Manages the design & development activities including New Product Development and customization of existing products

- Guides the design and development team on customization of existing products / new product development as required to meet customer orders
