Reports to: Vice President- Manufacturing Operations Excellence, Supply chain

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE :

The role is responsible for formulating corporate EHS strategies, standards and guidelines and drive the implementation of the same across the organization with the objective of creating a zero harm environment in the organisation and providing support for compliance to applicable legislation pertaining to environment, health and safety.

Qualification : B.E. with professional qualification in EHS

Experience : 20+ years of relevant experience

Knowledge & skills :

- Knowledge of EHS Management in multiunit, multiplication organization

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY :

Strategic :

- Responsible for defining, reviewing and updating corporate Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards, guidelines and providing necessary technical support to ensure that all applicable standards are implemented across the organization and periodically monitor the progress

- Responsible for driving the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) strategy, standards and policies in line with the statutory & regulatory requirements

- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislations pertaining to Safety, Health and Environment across the organization

- Develop and implement a framework for management of safety risks to enable the business to make informed decisions

- Provide regular updates and inputs to the top management of the organization for all decisions pertaining to functional operations to help them take effective decisions

- Drive and develop a EHS compliant culture in the organization

- % Improvement in Safety, Health & Environment score

Financial :

- Formulate the annual budget for EHS function and ensure adherence to the same through quarterly / monthly review. Formulate corrective action plans for deviations, if any

- Ensure effective implementation of the proposed risk mitigation framework to minimize potential impact on profitability

- % adherence to the cost budget for the department

- % cost savings vis--vis last year

Operational :

- Drive effective EHS risk assessment and recommend mitigation initiatives and controls across the organization

- Conduct periodic meetings to discuss organization-wide EHS related issues, EHS awareness improvement programs and overall EHS function performance

- Investigate and analyse the incidents/ accidents within the organization and monitor the implementation of the corrective actions

- Liaison with concerned government authorities, chambers, organisations, consultants etc. and maintain professional relationship.

- Design and implement EHS training programs for all employees of the organization

- Develop the EHS communication strategy for the organization to ensure effective dissemination of information with respect to implementation of EHS norms, EHS issues, corrective measures taken etc. to internal and external stakeholders such as management, regulatory authorities, financial investors and general public

- Develop plans and procedures with clear roles and responsibilities delineated to ensure preparedness and speedy organizational response to incidents/accidents in emergency situations

People :

- Monitor the performance of the team on a continuous basis and give periodic feedback to them

- Mentor and coach subordinates to develop the team's capabilities and build a robust succession pipeline

- Provide guidance and support to team members, where required

- Foster an environment of learning, excellence and team work across the function

- % completion of training mandays and certifications for the department

- Responsible for driving the customer satisfaction (both internal and external) score for USL
