Head - Data Science - IT

We are seeking a technically advanced, curious, and resourceful candidate with hands-on experience ideating and prototyping new models to meet the changing needs of a business, leading and guiding a small team of data scientists, as well as iterating on those models and work with data engineers to push them into production use cases.

Candidates must be able to both define and implement the model, as well as justifying model selection through a process of peer review and explaining the impact of the model to a business audience in non-technical terms.

Candidates should be able to guide and mentor his/her team to identify the right use cases, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and coordinate across other parallel functions. You will have the chance to directly improve customer experience by developing various content algorithms and propensity models to ensure customers can discover the most relevant content.

Your responsibilities include:

- Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain machine learning models which improve Prime Video customer experience

- Design and run A/B experiments to test new algorithms

- Use machine learning best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all of the team deliverables

- Hire and Lead a group of data scientists to deliver machine-learning and AI solutions to production.

- Provide thought leadership to scientists and engineers to invent and implement scalable ML solutions and data driven algorithms.

- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, product managers and stakeholders to design and implement solutions for science problems

- Communicate scientific results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences and serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor for stakeholders across multiple teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 12+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS)

- 8+ years of experience of building machine learning models for business application

- 4+ years leading a team of data scientists

- Experience in ETL and databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

- Knowledge of SQL and experience with efficient processing of large data sets
