Job Description :

- Head of Data Science leads the team in building, communicating, visualising and implementing the Data Science strategy and roadmap for transforming this fintech into a data-driven enterprise. This strategic role advises and support BUs (business units) to enhance business performance and create new potential business opportunities by using both existing and new data sources and techniques.

Client Details :

Our client is a well established name in the fintech space. They are well funded and data driven organisation and have a good infrastructure and huge data sets in place. They are completely digital and well spread across India. They have a team of Data Scientists working on various problems using Machine Learning tools and techniques and are now looking for a Head of Data Science who comes with a combination of being hands on and a great leader who can lead this team of super talented folks.

Description :

Key responsibilities of the Head of Data Science are :

- Responsible for building and improving Credit risk models, Recommendation Engines, Fraud Detection, Propensity Modeling etc

- Test / Validate / Measure Performance of various statistical and data science models.

- Use statistical concepts like ROC curve, Lift Analysis to evaluate models and predict performance of data science models and other experiments in production

- Provide expertise to the organization on statistical techniques and their usage and help with analysis on various datasets and analysis of A/B experiments

- Build and manage a team of data scientists, data analysts and data product managers.

- Liaise with data engineers on building data marts, reports, data warehouse, data pipelines and data tracking mechanisms.

- Conduct case studies and effectively communicate findings to establish cause & effect relationships from data analysis and separate causation from correlation

- Evangelize the need for data science across the organization and educate peers and other leaders in the company of the latest in data science and analytics

- Understand the underlying data architecture such as schemas and table relationships for data extraction and configuring new reports.

- Able to work with large volumes of user demographic and activity data

Profile :

As a successful candidate for this role, you need to have:

- Masters degree in Statistics, Mathematics or Computer science or Engineers from Tier 1 institutes

- 10+ years experience in Data Science and Analytics.

- Proficient with Python, R, SQL

- Expertise in Machine Learning and Deep Learning

- Experience in building and managing a team of data scientists and analysts

- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

- Demonstrated success in defining goals, formulating approach, building analytical models and continuous optimization.

- Strong communication, interpersonal skills

- Ability to collaborate effectively in a matrix environment
