Role Overview

- Providing overall people leadership for Team members and affiliated staff in Bengaluru as the local member of Australia Datas Senior Leadership, reporting to the Head of Australia Data

- Playing a leading role in the recruitment, on boarding and operational establishment of new Australia Data teams in Bengaluru (initially ~80 FTE) with a specific focus on building an enterprise grade data engineering and data platform operations capability

- Establishing and incubating the green fields development of a sophisticated data analytics capability (initially ~30 FTE) for Responsible Banking, setting it up to transition into an independent operation once it reaches scale

- Providing an active voice and contribution to the Australia Data strategy and work prioritisation as part of Australia Datas Senior Leadership team.

- Developing a panel of trusted consulting and managed service providers which enable workforce flexibility where needed to support project, or resource ramp up, requirements for data capability as required by Australia Retail & Commercial

The role will be required to work closely with relevant technology Teams supporting Australia Datas platforms. It will have a dotted line reporting relationship with a designated member of the Bengaluru Service Centre Executive Team.

Key Responsibilities -

- Recruit a team and build our talent work with recruitment, internal talent pools and managed services providers to stand up a great team with the skills we need; build development plans and programs which offer our people the ability to build a long and rich career with the Bank

- Drive delivery Work with the Performance Lead, Product Owners and Scrum Masters to monitor delivery progress and course correct as required; provide them with a point of escalation and support to remove blockers or clarify requirements with stakeholders

- Tie the work to the strategy play a role in linking approach to execution and delivery across different teams to the Australia Data strategy; as part of the leadership group help to prioritise and sequence the work we choose to drive the strategy forward

- Communicate the vision help new members of the Bengaluru team understand the bank, organisational context and how the Australia Data Strategy works to deliver capabilities and data assets to data workers across all of Retail & Commercial

- Build a culture of delivery & excellence

- Understand and manage risks

- Manage the finances own and report on the local finances and related project spend

- Lead an effective transition help the Australia Data Leadership Team, relevant Service Centre teams and allocated project resources to manage a successful transition of critical platform support functions into Bengaluru; design processes, flag risks or challenges and track the availability of the skills we need to get this job done safely

What will likely be in your toolkit ?

- Preferable domain expertise in the banking & finance industry

- Domain expertise in data environments in medium - large organisations

- Demonstrable experience with using data techniques and platforms to drive business value

- Delivery experience and outcomes focus with expertise in planning for multiple initiatives and prioritising for value

- Ability to connect and influence across multiple business functions

- Ability to quickly create trusted relationships with business teams

- Preferable experience in building new teams and functions

- Well-developed leadership skills to resolve conflict and align outcomes

- Exceptional critical thinking skills
