Head - Credit Risk - Bank

Job Purpose

The Head of Credit Risk-India is responsible for assisting the Head of Risk Management with the following:

- Managing the credit risk function of the bank relating to all types of lending.

- Ensuring that credit facilities and loans are granted within the RBI regulations and Bank's credit policies.

- Responsible for overall adequacy and effectiveness of the credit risk management techniques/process.

Main Duties:

The Head of Credit Risk-India is responsible for:

- Ensuring that Credit Risk Dept. adheres to policies and procedures presented in the Credit Policy Manual.

- Ensuring that credit facilities approved are permitted in compliance with the terms of sanction and with current Bank Credit Policy.

- Ensuring that existing credit lines are monitored to identify problematic accounts that require remedial action and that appropriate action is recommended to the Executive Manager Risk Management and/or AGM - Risk Management & Financial Control.

- Recommending classification for loans & advances according to RBI guidelines and coordinating required provisioning for all identified problematic accounts.

- Coordinating with external and RBI auditors reviewing credit facilities.

- Submitting periodic reports regarding the status of the loan portfolio to the Head of Risk Management.

- Establishing goals and objectives for his direct reports in keeping with those established by the Head of Risk Management.

- Evaluating staff performance.

- Promoting / coordinating effective cross-training.

- Serving on the Corporate and Retail Credit Committees.

Essential Qualifications/Experience Required

- University degree in Banking / Finance/Mathematics/Statistics and / or Economics from a recognized university, pref. with MBA

- About 10-12 years of related experience of which minimum 8 years should be in similar position/responsibility in Banking or in a Financial Institution.

- High level of English communication skills, Hindi is an advantage.

- Strong computer application skills particularly with M.S. Excel.

- Highly developed analytical skills

- Strong decision-making skills
