Description :

- One of the leading Financial service companies in India is looking for a Head of Compliance for their Alternate Investments Funds business.

Job Responsibilities :

- To assist management in identifying and assessing the compliance risks associated with the business activities, proposed activities and client relationships

- To handle end to end Audit and Regulatory inspection

- To assist in the establishment and maintenance of processes and controls within and across business groups so that the day-to-day business activities are in compliance with applicable laws and that any breaches of such laws, rules, regulations and internal policies are detected

- To provide a proactive and expert compliance advisory service

- To develop policies, procedures and other documents governing business activities, such as manuals, codes of conduct, practice notes, and the like, to comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations. Assess the adequacy of compliance policies, procedures and guidelines, resolve any identified deficiencies, and formulate proposals for revisions or amendments

- To Identify, investigate and resolve indications of violations to the Company's internal policies, systems and controls or to applicable laws, rules or regulations

- To promptly alert senior management / GCG to significant compliance issues

- To periodically report to senior management / GCG on the effectiveness of the Company's compliance program

- To be able keep abreast of regulatory developments or other matters affecting the business activities, systems and controls and communicate changes to policies, procedures and regulatory requirements and oversee implementation thereof

- To assist in establishing programs to foster awareness among management and staff of relevant internal policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, including an explanation of the spirit and rationale of the requirements as well as the letter, the promotion of best practice throughout the SBU, and keeping staff up-to-date with changes in the requirements.

- To foster a partnership among the various business and support groups to create a compliant business environment and culture

- Partnering, as appropriate, with business and support groups to manage relationships with regulators and assist with the Company's response to regulatory investigations including attending to regulatory inspections and audits and be regulatory interface for the SBU

- To be able to partner with stakeholders within Global Asset Management business unit and across the Group, promote & manage the culture and practice of Compliance within regulatory requirements and as laid down by the group.

The Candidate :

- Minimum 10 to 12 years of post qualification experience - preferably in Private Equity, Venture Capital, Alternative Investment Funds (AIF), Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI), Asset Management space

- Preferred industry: Venture Capital, AIF, Private Equity, FPI, Asset Management

- Education : CS, LLB and CA will be an added advantage

- Ability to strike a balance between compliance/regulatory constraints and business imperatives & good drafting and communication skills.

- Good knowledge and experience of regulations governing Fund Industry & FEMA compliance,

- Experience of dealing with executives of all levels including the capacity to articulate the case of regulatory compliance's in the language of business.

- Excellent Negotiation & inter-personal skills, Eye for detail and Ability to manage ambiguity and analyse to provide clear guidance
