Organization : A Client Of Third Sector Partners

Job Title : Communications Head

Reports To : Head Of The Organization


Location : MUMBAI


About :

- To build awareness about the brand and its priorities through impactful communication disseminated across media and communication platforms, including offline platforms such as events and volunteering programme, targeting internal and external audiences globally.

Roles and Responsibilities :

Brand Management :

- To be custodian of the organization's brand, build awareness, create brand image and ensure brand recall for organization and its activities. Develop, implement, and evaluate the Annual organizational Communications Plan to support project objectives.

- Lead the evolution of organization's brand guidelines, including visual identity, positioning and key messaging and ensure adherence to the same to establish organization's unique brand identity across its work at the organization as well as the subsidiary.

- Identify platforms (online and offline) to represent organization and mentor teams to communicate effectively about the organization

- Liaise with organization's Corporate Communications and organization's Engage team to align organization's communication and positioning with overall mother brand.

Content Creation :

- Lead creation of impactful content to target organization's internal and external audiences through print and digital media across platforms - website, PR, social media, newsletters etc.

- Draft and edit communication to ensure that outputs adhere to a high-quality standard, respond to the needs of the target audience, and are delivered within agreed budget and timelines

- Engage and collaborate with external consultants and agencies to produce impactful content to meet organization's communication needs

- Review & modify organization related communication created by teams across units, other teams and external partners to ensure content is aligned with organization's communication objectives

- Work with legal team to ensure content is legally aligned and that vendors are aligned to requisite legal formalities for consent, ownership of content etc.

- Create templates and build capacity of teams internally and externally to use them while highlighting organization supported activities.

Content Dissemination :

- Ensure organization's communication is disseminated in the most appropriate and effective formats through media that is best suited to target specific audiences internally and externally

- Create, update and optimize the organization's websites, digital annual report to ensure information is accurate, up-to-date and optimized for search engines.

- Manage organization's presence in social media platforms in line with organizations and mother brand image and messaging protocol

- Respond to media queries, write press release quotes and forge relationships with key journalists to build awareness about organization's initiatives

- Inform internal audiences about organization through the newsletters, intranet and mass emailers and ensure appropriate organizational presence in external platforms- partner websites, social media channels, newsletters etc.

Monitoring and Evaluation :

- Monitor website traffic and social media analytics to ensure digital strategies are achieving desired outcomes

- Track PR coverage of issues that organization works on, other communication activities and industry trends to identify opportunities for organization

- Track innovative communication ideas and industry best practices and identify opportunities to apply them for enhancing organization communications

- Identify events/ conferences/workshops/seminars where organization should be represented and coach the team on how the organization's brand should be represented externally.

- Cross Functional Team Management and Support

Internal :

- Work closely with teams beyond India to create a singular identity and consistent messaging for organization in all geographies

- Collaborate with internal teams (India Business, HR, Archives and others) on joint initiatives that call for organization's comm. contributions and representation

- Liaise with organization's Corporate Communications to align organization communication and positioning with overall mother brand.

- Manage Communications budget for utilization.

- Represent organization in the 'Communications Council' led by organization's Corporate Communications Head

- Work with HR teams at organization to understand the Engage agenda and ensure adequate support and resources are allocated to organization to contribute to the overall organization's Engage platform.

External :

- Provide communication support and guidance to organization's partners for their communications plans and strategies on organization funded projects

- Manage organization's representation in communication collaterals created for partnerships, events and multi stakeholder engagements to maximize organization's brand presence and recall.

- Vendors, designers, consultants onboarding to be managed as per the laid organization documentation process, with whom the communications team will collaborate tor key identified project / assignment implementation.

- Leadership and Organizational Development

- As a senior leader within organization, contribute towards development of the organizational strategy, annual reviews, team building and goal setting.

Required Qualifications :

Relevant Experience : Minimum 15 years of experience working in strategic communications including cross functional linkages with event management related fields / functions. Experience of working in NGOs and / or CSR is a plus

Educational Qualification : Postgraduate degree in Mass Communications and related field.

Skills and Knowledge :

- Strong leadership track record - Highly collaborative style; experience in developing and implementing communications strategies

- Experience with managing a team

- Experience with managing vendors, freelancers and agencies

- A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently

- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with print and digital communications technologies

- Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills

- Understanding of copywriting, graphic design, layout, and publishing

- Understanding of social media platforms and social media marketing
