We have very urgent position in one of retail organization across the following location: 

BASE LOCATION - Delhi

OFFERED CTC - negotiable ; depending

upon current CTC & profile.

POSITION - Head BUYING

REPORTING - CEO

Main Job Purpose

As part of the Executive Team, the Head of Buying is responsible for the overall management of the day-to-day buying requirements, effectively and efficiently within the parameters of the Annual Operation Plan. The role also encompasses the training and developing of personnel within the department, and ensuring the overall management of stock, cost and margin enhancement, range efficiency, merchandise planning, stock rotation, turnover, logistics & deliveries, regulatory compliances and relationship building with suppliers.

Responsibilities:

OPERATIONS :

- Negotiation on cost and margins.

- Optimizing revenue generation from space selling.

- Work out a Promotional Calendar with brands, so as DDFS is competitive in terms of Pricing and Exclusive and first to launch products within the region

- Deliver the stock level requirements to achieve as a minimum and deliver the AOP targets.

- Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing purchasing operational policies and procedures manual.

- Implement and maintain retail operational policies and procedures to incorporate a purchasing plan, cost control, audit compliance and people management

- Manage the buying order process

- Contributes to future development at strategic and operational level

- Plans, identifies, communicates and delegates key responsibilities and practices to the buying team to ensure smooth flow of purchasing operations

- Establish and maintain effective communications between various departments within the Company and suppliers.

SALES :

- Develops sales order forecasts to achieve and maintain sales, margins and agreed stock levels.

- Analysis data on sales trends to ensure adequate cover and no OOS on ABC lines that could negatively impact sales.

- Drive operational purchasing improvements through analysis and support.

- Propose measures to improve operational performance, both in processes and new lines.

REPORTING:

- Develop purchasing reports to give feedback to retail and senior management to drive the business and improve purchasing operations.

- Analysis data to understand trends that can enhance the business in both sales, margin improvements and cost effectiveness.

- Prepare reports on the businesses- Key Performance Indicators as per the company standard

STAFF:

- Ensures purchasing operations requirements are fulfilled to include scheduling, assigning employees, follow up on work results and the internal BSC or PMS KPI's to monitor and ensure performance achievement.

- Maintains staff by supporting and assisting in recruitment, selection, orientation and training

- Maintains staff results by coaching, counselling, disciplining, planning, monitoring and appraising job results

- Protects staff by providing safe and clean environment

- Commercial communication to all staff

- Develop the purchasing staff and support areas to optimize sales and profits

- Create and develop a coaching culture as well as promoting an environment that promotes diversity.

- Lead the team to deliver a profitable business

- Ensure staff have a high level of customer awareness and product knowledge

- Liaise with Training Department to develop and manage the company's sales and product training programmes

MERCHANDISE:

- In conjunction with CEO, review merchandise activities, determining additional sales promotion, proposing stock clearance and analyzing trends to ensure DDFS merchandise and merchandising if effective, impactful and delivers the desired results which translate into sales.

- Market merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotions, display plans, analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.

- Ensuring range and stock levels are consistent with business requirements

FINANCIAL:

- Achieve financial objectives by preparing the departments sales budgets, scheduling expenditure, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions

- Maximize sales and profitability for the company.

- Set monthly targets, monthly and annual budgets

- Update forecast results and amend projections

- Work closely with the senior management team to provide quality, clear and concise purchasing information

CUSTOMERS:

- Identifies current and future requirements by regular visits to the airport retail stores to establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements

- Take account of customers- needs and shopping habits and competitor activity by regular visits to domestic retail stores

- Use a range of internal and external information data to initiate business changes and create a customer focused culture

MARKETING:

- In conjunction with suppliers formulates and agrees the yearly supplier/brand Promotional Calendars

- Provides help and support to suppliers to organize promotional/marketing events

- In conjunction with the retail department, review the implementation and success of supplier promotional activities

- Undertake market research to identify market trends, new product options and evaluate local and international competitors

- Works closely with the Marketing Manager to create quality marketing communications for the airport stores

WAREHOUSING:

- The warehousing activity will be taken care, along with cost optimization regarding warehousing

- Minimize expiry, damage and loss of products

 KNOWLEDGE:

- Maintains a professional and technical knowledge by attending exhibitions, workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional groups

- Should have adequate knowledge and experience of handling related government departments like Customs and FSSAI.

- Preferably good understanding of Indirect Tax regulations in India, especially regarding GST and its impact.

REQUIREMENTS :

Requisites - from Retail/FMCG background with buying and not sourcing experience and experience in cost negotiations.

Preferred companies - Large Format Retail preferred. Otherwise FMCG / Retail ( all segments ).
