Role Summary:

BTG role is functional analyst role also termed as Business analyst or Techno Functional Analyst. A Functional analyst role comprises of below mentioned key activities and work distribution %

1) L2 Production support (35%)

2) End to end Software life cycle execution / Project Management (30 %)

3) Documentation (20%)

4) Stake holder Management (20%)

Role Activities / Expectations

Domain Experience:

Retail Asset Business - Domain Expert

- Having Knowledge of Sourcing Systems like LOS , SME and Back end - FinnOne LMS

- Should be able to understand from the users the Existing Process and support in Re-Engineer the Processes

- Experience in any Digital Initiative ,STP, System Interfaces

- Good Communication skills

Attached below are the detailed activities under this role :

1) L2 Production support (35%)

- Responding to Stake holders Issues/clarification raised over eMail or Logged as Call

- Responding to L2 Calls (phone) of Customer for issues.

- Managing escalation

- Reverting to issues within time lines

- Taking control of Customer and Issue Simulation on the setup

- Co ordination with vendor & IT for issue resolution

- Preparation of test cases & Testing of the fixes

- Documentation of Release and Change Management process

- CAB approval process

- Coordination IT for Patch deployment / SIT

- Build detailed understanding of back end Tables

- Running SQL queries for fetching data from DB

- Exception instances deploying Patches.

- Meetings with key stake for discussions

- MIS maintenance

- Back end MIS generation

- Conduct Yearly external and Internal Audit certifications

- Post production deployment User verification / Co ordination

2) End to end Software life cycle execution / Project Management (30 %)

- Setting up discussion with Users

- Publishing MOM

- Requirement documentation

- Project planning and delivering as per deadlines

- Preparation of Flow charts an Screen prototypes

- Discussion with vendor and explanation

- Functional documentation sign off

- Documentation of Release and Change Management process

- Preparation of Funding note & PO issuances

- Coordination with IT for Hardware Sizing and explanation of Solution

- User training, Manual preparation and roll out

- User, Audit & ISG certification

- Coordination IT for Patch deployment / SIT

- Deploying Patches.

- Preparation of test cases and getting it reviewed

- Bug tracking and resolution

- Sign off Documentation

- Build detailed understanding of back end Tables

- Running SQL queries for fetching data from DB and validating DB impact

- Validate procedures / Functions etc if required

3) Documentation (20%)

- ITPP guidelines (15+) documentation for support and change management process

- Build Knowledge on IT governance policies

- Involves direct interaction with banks internal users

A candidate depending on the experience is allocated to an application and Domain. HDFC Bank is No 1 in retail asset across the industry. Systems implemented within the bank are best in the industry. Systems have a complex eco systems, process and very custom built applications. Any new candidate over a period of 6-12 months in HDFC Bank transforms into an experience functional analysts with basic understanding of domain, application features / functionality, processes and ecosystems.

A candidate is given on the job training to understand the eco systems holders and process. Starting point of journey begins with Role 1 Production Support and subsequently moves on to other roles over a period of time. Depending on the candidate ability, grasping capability and performance assessed by his supervisor, he is advanced to enhanced role defined in the Role summary mentioned above. Hence the growth and exposure of the candidate depends on the initiative, ability to learn, execution and capability to deliver.

Key Aspects of Job Role

- BTG role involves detailed understanding of application nuances which is gained over a period of time. Some of the applications in the bank are custom built and specific to banks process. Hence there is no off the shelf training given for getting this expertise. It is on the Job training given by supervisors or Peers by giving assignments / tasks. Candidates are also primarily expected to value add by self learning process by asking queries and doubts which assisted by supervisors or peers. Hence Pro-activeness/ eagerness to learn, well grasping and adapt is the key behavioral trait required for this job.

- BTG role manages key application of the bank which has a direct customer / regulatory / financial impact. Hence time is the essence in the Job role. All activities are time bound and any delay has cascading implications. Candidates are expected to finish work in a time bound and efficient manner. Regular proactive timely updates to supervisor, seeking for assistance / follow ups, going beyond duty hours and giving additional effort for timely completion key behavioral trait expected.

- BTG manages applications which are critical for day to day executions. Hence Job demands extended sitting hours depending on the nature/ scale of application supported. It also requires coming on holidays in case of production issues / BCP Drills which is compensated with Comp offs with supervisor approval.

- Banking hours are regulated by RBI hence role demands to be adhered on punctual on time as BTG supports branches who are supporting customers. Being punctual is of prime most importance. Job timing has got no consideration on of residence location or transit time required for reaching location. Job timing is 9.30 Am 5.30 Pm and Working location is Kanjurmarg.
