HCL - Regional Head - Fire Safety - South & West (10-15 yrs)

General :

The Fire Safety Officer performs regular fire safety inspections of all facilities under their care, ensuring that they meet all necessary codes and regulations. They also respond to fire emergencies, investigation and reporting the causes of fire and taking appropriate responsive actions. In order to adhere to local/country laws and policies, the Fire Safety Officer must remain up-to-date on all local and NBC codes and regulations. They are also responsible for acquiring necessary buildings Fire NOC, so they must remain knowledgeable of the such permit procedures and requirements.

Qualitative Requirements :

- Indian citizen.

- Preferably between 35 - 45 years of age

- Minimum Graduate/PG or equivalent educational qualification.

- Should have at least 10 years of experience in Fire Safety.

- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Fire Safety Officer in corporate environment.

- Adequate computer knowledge to communicate and handle documentation and reporting requirements.

- Good spoken and written communication skills.

Job Description :

Fire Safety Officers must be knowledgeable experts in their field and possess excellent communication skills in order to maintain fire safety and adequately educate others. They are also timely and adaptable, responding quickly and effectively to fire safety issues and emergencies. Detail-oriented, they identify and resolve all fire safety concerns and violations.

a) Fire Officer will be overall in charge of Fire Safety Department of all HCL Tech site of North Region and ensure its smooth functioning.

b) Ability to strategize fire safety vertical to meet statutory and operational requirements of organization with a scale and size of HCL

c) Ability to liaison with local administration, fire department etc.

d) Ability to design corporate level and local operating procedures and get same implemented at sites

e) Ability to manage vendors i.e. security agencies, external SMEs, AMC vendors, equipment providers etc.

f) Thorough knowledge of fire suppression methods, practices, and techniques.

g) Thorough knowledge of fire and emergency response equipment operation and maintenance.

h) Thorough knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use and operation of fire equipment and to fire suppression activities.

i) Knowledge of effective supervisory methods, practices and techniques including some knowledge of State and Country Fire regulations/laws. Knowledge of effective supervisory practices and techniques.

j) Ability to plan, organize, assign, and evaluate the work of fire operators.

k) Being the local expert in fire safety means that the Fire Safety Officer is also responsible for providing education and training to all company and facility staff members. They must ensure that staff is adequately aware of fire safety code and preventative measures in order to facilitate the safety of a building and its employees and reduce violations.

l) Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in both oral and written form to supervisors, peers, and subordinates.

m) Ability to maintain records and to prepare reports.

n) Ability to deal courteously and authoritatively with the public. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other industry peers, local fire authority agencies and the general public.

o) Maintenance is an important part of the Fire Safety department. Fire officer should ensure maintenance of all fire equipment's and suppression systems in the building, such as fire extinguishers and other fire-suppression equipment, replacing dysfunctional equipment when it cannot be fixed.

p) Should be able to perform preventative work on buildings and equipment as well to reduce the need for maintenance and replacement.

q) After inspecting buildings, if the Fire Safety Officer has identified any code violations or failures to adhere to appropriate regulations, he or she is responsible for addressing these violations. This can include performing maintenance, submitting work orders for building updates, and implementing any necessary disciplinary actions.

Qualification Required :

a) BE from National Fire Services College, Nagpur affiliated to Nagpur University or B Tech in Fire Safety Engineering from Cochin University or equivalent.
