Job Description

Key responsibilities of the data scientist would be:

- Managing a team of 10+ data scientists working on creating solutions for the large and small ticket SME lending businesses

- Work with the senior management to develop scorecards across the lending value chain from pre-acquisition, acquisition, portfolio management, collections and recoveries for both consumer and commercial lending.

- Participate in conceptualizing, developing and executing a model building framework that will enable the usage of explainable and robust machine learning techniques to enhance predictability and stability.

- These scorecards would be built by leveraging mainstream data like bureau information, application information etc. and alternate data like social media information, cash flow / transaction information etc. A key part of the job would be the creation of proprietary variables that can enhance model predictability.

- Be prepared to participate in cutting-edge research in the AI/ML space for building models that utilize both structured and unstructured data from a supervisory / non-supervisory standpoint.

- Building a powerful Business Rule Engine which codifies our approach to lending and uses machine learning to stay current all the time

- Build Real-time business performance dashboards to ensure that we can measure and monitor risks in real time to the business

Key Success Criteria

- Overall work experience between 6-12 years with an experience of at least 3 years in the lending industry

- Experience of managing a small team of 3-4 people

- Proficiency in programming languages like R, Python, SQL and VBA.

- Expertise in utilizing various machine learning algorithms with a focus on practical implementation.

- Flexibility to work across the value chain from data pulling, data analysis, variable creation, model building, validation and implementation.

- Open and curious mindset with a focus on continuous self-improvement

- Logical thinker who is focuses on the solution as opposed to the modelling technique
