The Role Summary

This role will be aligned to the global Chief Product Officer. This is a strategic role for the success of the platform as it will drive an important aspect for the success of the e-b2b platform: enabling omni-channel order capture from the small, underserved stores across physical and digital channels. The person in this role will be responsible for developing the product roadmap for connecting with the stores to capture their demand. The ambition of the platform is to drive 80%+ self-orders by the stores with a concerted effort to reduce the dependence on sales representatives capturing the store orders on their smartphones. This will be done through a variety of demand capturing options like retailer ordering through our app, ordering through digital platforms like whatsapp, tele-calling setup, etc.

The role holder should have a proven ability to think big, chart the path and drive brilliant execution across diverse, virtual teams. S/he will be customer focused and external oriented to bring outside-in thinking across industries to create a pioneering, unique and differentiated approach to capturing demand from stores. This role holder will have a strong data & technology mindset with a proven ability to build scale-able processes coupled with the ability to inspire the entire organization to deliver the best-in-class experience for small retailers and create value for the platform through more efficient utilization of the field sales agents. In all of this, the role holder will challenge & push leadership thinking while being agile and responsive to business and Partner needs. This is a pivotal leadership role in a fast growing and evolving team.

Key Responsibilities

- Define the company's- approach to Demand Capture, training of field sales agents to use them as change agents to drive behavior change of stores to unassisted self-ordering while fine-tuning it basis on-ground learnings across markets.

- Responsible for driving excellence in implementation of the demand capture products and processes by instilling governance mechanisms, metrics, and external benchmarking to ensure we consistently raise the bar.

- Define the companies- approach to the product roadmap to deliver the demand capture and training of field sales agents and fine-tuning it basis on-ground learnings across markets. Managing the planning, development, roll-out and adoption of the products across markets will be the responsibility of this person.

- Proactively build and develop synergistic relationships with Global cross-functional leaders, Market Leaders, Field Sales leaders, Supply chain and operations leaders in markets by providing consultation and collaboration to enhance the relevant products' experience.

- Develop strong external partnerships and managing relationships with- the global field management organizations like Smollans to develop capabilities of driving retailers' digital adoption. Independently anchor discussions in top-to-top forums, build bridges with the operating leaders and sharp ability to be tuned into Partner opportunities/challenges through formal & informal mechanisms.

- Pioneering work to instill robust mechanisms to collate product performance feedback from various sources for continuous improvement of Customer experience and deliver best-in-class Net Promoter Score (NPS) from Customers for demand capture features of our platform.

- Build the capability for the cross-functional/market teams on demand capture models to engage effectively and offer a consistent experience.

Deliverables

To Do Well In This Position, You Must Have

- More than 15 years of experience across CPG, Retail and e-commerce, with a possible split of 50% in managing CPG sales, general trade distribution with another 50% in retail and e-commerce. The line roles that the individual would have done during these years will be very important to understand their suitability to the leadership role in the company.

- Hands-on understanding of traditional trade distribution for CPGs across channels including distributor direct coverage, wholesale, cash & carry, etc. with a deep understanding of the friction points faced by small stores that get served through distributors, wholesalers, and cash & carry.

- Exposure to product management either directly leading it or as a key stakeholder in shaping technology-product strategy.

- Strong bias for action to act nimbly and dynamically to enhance the solutions.

- Display a pro-active, tenacious and innovative approach to problem-solving by demonstrating an expertise in delivered results. Strong data & analytical thinking.

- Experience working with a small team, in a global company with a fast pace working environment. Ability to wear multiple hats is a must!

- Strong business acumen and change management capability.

- Proven ability in effectively building collaborative stakeholder relationships.

- Results-driven, willingness to take challenges and work under pressure, with an entrepreneurial drive

- Ability to lead and support multiple workstreams impacting small retailers, principals, sellers, fulfilment partners' experience which involve significant cross-functional/market team dependencies through best-in-class partnering and collaboration. Proven ability of influencing without authority to deliver results.-

- The ideal leader will inspire, command respect and earn trust by effectively displaying subject matter expertise to get the cross-functional/market team to deliver in a very lean and flat organization.

- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
