Urgent Requirement : Group Head HR
The Position is at the level of the Group and therefore is at the Senior Management level. Accordingly, the purpose and critical functions would be as follows:
Purpose:
The Group Head (HR) is expected - to enable and assist the group in creating and sustaining a sensitive, responsive, high-performance environment in the various businesses.
The key expectations of the role:
- Conceptualise and operationalise Human Resource Management Frameworks in the context of a multi-business group in its early stages of formalisation of processes and practices.
- Position the function as Strategic to make HRM a distinctive competence of the group.
- Enhance the employability of every employee on an on-going basis to make the organisation a preferred employer
The competencies required to effectively take on this role:
- Thorough knowledge of Human Resources Management theories and practices. Theory driven-practice informed.
- Understanding of and familiarity with family run businesses.
- Skills in managing group level HR with sensitivity to practice variations in different businesses.
- High tolerance to ambiguity and contingency orientation in design of HRM systems and processes.
The Person:
- Formal qualifications in HRM/Organisational Behaviour from a Management school of repute. (The reputation of the school can be non-constraining if the experience of the person is strikingly distinctive)
- Over all work-experience of at least 15 years (closer to 20 years) with at least 5 years as the Head of HR (in the case of a medium-sized organisation) or as directly reporting to the Head of HR (in case of large organisation). Work-experience in a family run multi-business group at the Head-quarters will be excellent.
- Person looking for a very challenging, at times bewildering, experience for at least 5 years.
- It is assumed that the person will have thorough understanding of contemporary HRIS(HRMIS), various tools and techniques of performance appraisal/assessment systems, organisation development (OD) interventions and their application, and coaching and counselling methodologies.
