Introduction:

Porticus is the international organisation that manages and develops the philanthropic programmes of charitable entities established by Brenninkmeijer family entrepreneurs. Their work builds on the heritage of charitable engagement of Clemens and August Brenninkmeijer, the two brothers who founded the clothing retailer C&A in 1841. Porticus collaborates with partners around the globe to foster human dignity, social justice and sustainability.

Reason for hire:

Porticus seeks an experienced development professional to work alongside the current Programme Manager based in National Capital Region (NCR), India. The incumbent would be responsible for developing and managing regional programmes which employ a whole child development lens to education. The Grant Manager would be expected to contribute to the development of projects and programmes that aim for systemic change.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities will be:

- Contributes to one or more portfolios by identifying innovative opportunities for regional, global and cross-regional programmes and clearly articulates the expected outcomes

- Carries out mappings of key stakeholders and context analyses in support of developing new programmes regionally and within the global portfolio structure

- Develops and leads the Implementation of programmes that aim for systemic and lasting changes in alignment with Porticus portfolio/regional strategies

- Leads the implementation of programmes, including ensuring adherence to the corresponding processes at programme and grant level

- Manages strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders and engages in strategic dialogue on the emerging and critical issues especially within the Indian environment

- Convenes programme partners and other key stakeholders, exercises leadership with peer funders and partners

- Develops knowledge in portfolio area(s) and builds a network of experts

- Analyses progress at programme/grant level and draws learnings for the region and the portfolio(s)

- Shares result/impact internally and externally and applies learning for course-correction and future programmes

- Actively contributes to and supports Porticus Portfolio, Regional and interregional engagement and collaboration. This includes sharing knowledge, experiences with portfolio/regional teams and fostering own development and of staff/peers, in keeping with Porticus ambition to be a learning organization

Note:

The roles and responsibilities outlined above are not meant to be an exhaustive list of tasks. Flexibility is required and the incumbent is expected to carry out any other related duties that are necessary for the optimum functioning of the charity as a whole within the employee's skills and abilities whenever a need is pointed out, becomes apparent or as reasonably instructed.

Must Haves -

- Masters degree in education, development economics, social sciences or related field however equivalent work experience would be accepted in lieu of this

- Minimum of 8 years working experience in field of education, whole child development, philanthropy, charities/ NGOs

- Demonstrated experience in grant making and grant making processes

- Understanding of programme development, monitoring and evaluation of programmes, particularly aimed at systemic change or incorporating root cause thinking

- Experience in managing small team

- Significant relevant work experience with strong networks and contacts

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with fluency in English language

Preferable - 

- Knowledge and understanding of the Indian context, particularly the education sector

- In-depth experience in inter-cultural communication and settings

- Experience in Salesforce and Office 365
