GM - Ethics & Compliance (12-25 yrs)

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for overseeing ethics and compliance program within India. Responsibilities include identifying and assessing compliance risks in the country, implementing global and regional compliance policies and protocols, conducting compliance trainings, enhancing and monitoring compliance controls, and conducting investigations into compliance-related violations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Assist Director of Ethics & Compliance for Asia Pacific and Legal Director for India in developing and implementing a comprehensive compliance program in India to ensure compliance with the laws of the India, the United States, the United Kingdom, and others;

- Conduct assessments to determine areas of compliance and regulatory risks.

- Implement regional compliance policies, processes and protocols to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to prevent, detect, and correct compliance failures;

- Conduct periodic reviews in India to determine effectiveness of compliance procedures;

- Coordinate and conduct training of associates to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including tracking and monitoring the scheduled training sessions; maintenance of accurate records of the completion of trainings by relevant persons on a regular basis.

- Investigate detected/suspected issues in coordination with Director of Ethics & Compliance for Asia Pacific and Compliance Manager for Asia Pacific;

- Maintain records with respect to the compliance program;

- Monitoring legal and regulatory environment to ensure India has current and accurate compliance procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Doctorate of jurisprudence, bachelor degree in law (LLB), master's degree in law (LLM), or equivalent. Admitted to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.

- Knowledge of the jurisdictions that govern the markets in which operates in India.

- Experience with corporate compliance matters.

- At least 5 years of experience in a medium or large private or corporate practice with strong leadership experience, preferably in legal firm or multinationals, with operations in India.

- Experience in providing legal counsel on a wide variety of corporate/commercial matters with substantial exposure to the India market within a legal capacity.

- Fluency in English, fluency in Hindi is desirable.
