Global Commodity Team Site Manager


Looking for Global commodity team site manager for a Engineering/Manufacturing Captive in Chennai,India. The candidate is required to work independently to interface with various stakeholders for sustaining and improving material spec.compliance and successful ramp to production volume.

Major responsibilities include (but not limited to) - 

- Recruit, develop and coach (Manage and supervise) SQE & Data Analysts for compilation, consolidation, and analyzing data for various Supply Chain initiatives

- Support supply chain flexibility initiatives, identify potential risks including financial risk based on D&B rating and support implementing contingency plans, example - die banks, buffer stock agreements, and VMI programs.

- Effectively manage SQE on-site resources to drive supplier continuous improvement initiatives and on-time closure of corrective actions

- Manage assigned commodities to support company Products, sourced and manufactured in multiple geographies to ensure supplier's performance meets all requirements.

- Development & maintenance of Commodity and Preferred Supplier Strategies in collaboration with Product Development and NPI Organizations

- Identify cost reduction opportunities, outline and define project charter, manage project to completion including tracking savings flow through, and preparing and presenting results to executive management.

- Identify and evaluate new suppliers to support future technical, and capacity requirements, and optimize total cost.

- Participate in new supplier technical evaluation process including quality system, financial stability/risk and capacity.

- Managing reviews and score card cadence to drive supplier continuous improvement initiatives through use of six sigma and/or lean initiatives.

- Support development & maintenance of preferred supplier strategies.

- Update and maintain Supply Chain database (Cognos) for Global Commodity team.

Key Skill Set :

Strong experience in all aspects of material, purchasing and supplier quality management with emphasis on the following key areas:

- Background and direct experience in Operations, Direct Procurement, and Commodity Management supporting PLC from NPI, through production ramp and EOL.

- Articulate written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting cross functionally and to all level of management, both internally and to suppliers. Ability to articulate strategy, vision, and support plans to Design and Product teams is critical.

- Supplier evaluation including manufacturing process audits and verification of supplier's capability and production capacity especially semiconductor mfg. process/packaging.

- Demonstrated problem solving, incl. leading root cause analysis, and mentoring skills including setting timelines and diligent follow-up to resolve supplier quality problems and meet product operations requirements.

- Subject matter expertise with Microsoft Office: Power user of Excel and must be proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Smart Sheet, Google Sheets and Project Management scheduling software.

- Working knowledge of international quality standards like ISO 9001, TS 16949 and AS9000 and quality methodology associated with Design of Experiments, gauge R&R, process capability, statistical process control and Lean Six Sigma.

Education / Experience

- BS / MBA with required technical experience in semiconductor process/packaging.

- CPM and/or CPIM certification and strong knowledge of MRP.

- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Purchasing/Procurement area.

- 15+ years total experience

- 5+ Management Experience.

- Ability to travel on short notice
