Proposed Job Title : LOC Regional Category Manager - Media

Location : Gurgaon

Job Purpose :

- To lead the Strategic Sourcing of complex spend category(s) primarily Media and other marketing categories in Indian Sub Continent Hub. To

- To tailor the global strategy for the Hub and lead deployment in the Hub.

- Regional Category Manager will be responsible for delivery of media savings and performance targets by managing the lead media agency, conducting category negotiations, identifying opportunities to leverage and drive benefits.

- The role will be to manage relationships with country leadership teams and identify and deliver business benefits aligned to quality, service, cost and innovation.

- RCM will support media strategy creation, execution and management at Hub level, where required, under the supervision and direction of the Global Category Lead/Hub Head.

- Must have demonstrated expertise in media buying process and experience in procurement processes.

- Must have demonstrated expertise in Media, understanding Planning and Buying as well as digital advertising supply chain.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategy creation & execution :

- Create comprehensive sourcing strategy for the Hub/Region for spend categories (to be prioritized based on the Hub/ Region business priorities and in alignment with Hub/ Region Head), operating with a truly Hub/ Region and strategic mindset and in close collaboration with the Global Category Leaders to ensure full alignment with global strategies

- Have a clear understanding of how Hub/ Region strategies affect their local market and the fit with global strategy.

- Build an education & communication process for in-country Procurement leads and business units

- Be the Hub/ Region expert in media spend categories

Benefit delivery :

- Deliver Hub/ Region benefits identified in global and local strategies through effective strategy execution, aligned to assurance of supply (risk management), quality, service, cost and innovation

- Deliver local and in country benefits ensuring local and in country Finance and affected business units are fully engaged

- Create and deliver effective Hub/ Region budgets (Plans of Purchase) agreed with key stakeholders and Finance in accordance with the Spend Management Framework and fully aligned with global and regional budgets

Business partnering & stakeholder management in GSK :

- Influence and advice key Hub/ Region business stakeholders at VP or director level and other business partners to support strategy development, endorse recommended strategies, support execution and agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted

External supplier relationships :

- Build strategic relationships with key suppliers at a senior level and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships. Ensure regional considerations are accounted for in global and local supplier relationships. Leverage the Business Review Meeting process to drive the relationship.

- Negotiate, create, execute and manage effective Hub/ Region specific contracts with suppliers (where required) that will allow GSK to maximize opportunity globally. Ensure Hub/ Region considerations are taken into account in global and Hub/ Region supplier negotiations and contracts

- Lead Hub/ Region supply base and strategy reviews.

Supply chain & risk management :

- Transform the supply chain to release value and make GSK more responsive to business and customer needs - for example in cost control, complexity reduction, simplification, best practice procurement and use of KPIs

- Identify and manage significant risks in the supply chain. Ensure appropriate mitigation plans are in place and in use and that the risks are communicated appropriately within business units impacted, Procurement and the supply base

Role dimensions :

- Reports to Director level in Procurement organization

- Operates across all countries in a specific Hub/ Region

- Stakeholder interface in GSK is typically Director/VP level with a high complexity network

- Category complexity is high with knowledge of core indirect categories (Media and Marketing) Supply market complexity is medium

- Seniority of supplier interface is very high

- GSK business impact of the spend is high

Breadth/Scope of Accountability :

- Provide details of any scope data relevant to the role e.g. the net sales that the role supports / generates or budget responsibility.

Operational Budget Accountability :

Knowledge/Education Required : 8-12 years

Minimum Level of Education : Degree level eg BA, BSc or equivalent

Required Area of Specialization : Specialist educational disciplines not required

Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience Required :

- Demonstrated expertise in Media Booking/Buying processes is required along with marketing procurement experience. Particularly with respect to developing & implementing significant strategies, Sr. stakeholder management and supplier relationship management

- Demonstrated experience in marketing procurement categories with focus on Media.

- This person is accountable for ensuring media savings target delivery for the Hub.

- These complex Procurement management roles in GSK. The role holders will be required to operate independently, influencing management with a LOC or across multiple countries

- Use of Strategic Thinking to build relationship (with stakeholders and suppliers) and create sourcing plans

Job Evaluation Detail :

Knowledge & Application :

- This RCM role requires understanding of the media buying process and media landscape in India. Negotiations and interactions with media vendors are expected

- Core Procurement background is required across key Procurement Capabilities including but not limited to negotiation skills, contracting sklls, and strategic sourcing. In addition strategy implementation capabilities will be required in performing this role. As an example the ability to implement centralized global strategies as well as developing regional strategies supporting de-centralized categories.

- Category managers need to ensure that the business requirement of the countries are understood and taken into account by the global category teams and that the category strategy will consider needs of all countries. They are also responsible for the functional leadership and capability building for their respective LOC.

Problem Solving & Innovation :

- The role needs to possess an adequate level of problem solving capabilities as well as the ability to triage and prioritize daily issues as they arise. The ability to solve problem independently with limited information and data available to make decisions and interpretations.

- Ability to anticipates medium to long term future issues and to break down complex problem into manageable tasks. The role will also need to have the ability to developed solutions in resolving issues, lead implementation of the solution in a cross functional team environment within a Hub. Conduct root case analyses on issues to prevent future recurrence.

- The role is required to understand the GSK support structure available to assist with challenges and issues and to be able to tap into that support structure. A solid sense of - urgency- evaluation is also required when problem solving. Understanding the need to escalate appropriately will be key.

- The ability to identify evaluate and progress local and regional disruptive technologies is important

Interaction :

- The role will be required to interact internally with key stakeholders, collaboratively across Procurement and externally to the GSK supply base. Influencing skills is a core capability for this role and will be required with interactions across Finance, internal stakeholders, legal, and within Procurement.

- In addition the role will need to identify/ anticipate risk and establish risk mitigation plans aligned with sourcing services across the globe. And to communicate performance to the business on impact.
