Currently, GIZ has over 330 staff in India, of whom 85 percent are national personnel. India is fast emerging as an economic and industrial power. It is a member of the - Group of Twenty- (G20), and of the BRICS association. Despite the country's rapidly growing economy, poverty and other socio-economic issues remain a challenge. The burgeoning population and accelerated urbanisation in the country have resulted in an environment at risk and greenhouse gas emissions that continue to spiral upwards. The thematic areas of GIZ in India are: - Energy - Environment, Climate Change and Biodiversity - Sustainable Urban and Industrial Development - Sustainable Economic Development The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) as well as the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) are the main commissioning parties of GIZ in India. Other clients include Indian public sector clients, the European Union and foundations. The Government of India has launched numerous important initiatives to address the country's economic, environmental and social challenges, and GIZ is contributing to some of the most significant ones. For example, it supports key initiatives such as Smart Cities, Clean India and Skill India. GIZ, in close cooperation with Indian partners, devises tailor-made, jointly-developed solutions to meet local needs and achieve sustainable and inclusive development. Project Background - Deutsche Gesellschaft fr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an enterprise owned by the German Government. GIZ implements sustainable development through international cooperation, on behalf of Germany and other partners. For over 60 years, GIZ has been working in India for sustainable economic, ecological, and social development together with its Indian partner institutions. One of GIZ's areas of support to the Indian Government includes private sector development. - Within this area of support, GIZ is implementing the project - Women Economic Empowerment- on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. This project seeks to support the Indian Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in increasing the share of women entrepreneurs in the country. In this regards, the project will provide advice to the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on how to increase access of women to support programmes and will work with business development service providers to provide targeted services for women wanting to found businesses and women entrepreneurs wanting to scale their businesses. Another important area of action of the project is implementing a media campaign to raise awareness on the role of women entrepreneurs. Description of the position Responsibilities - You will lead the project's communication and media work to raise awareness of the general public on the role of women in the economy to promote acceptance in India of women entrepreneurs and thus increase the project's impact. Through your communication and outreach work, you will also play an important role in positioning the project within the area of women economic empowerment in India. Key Tasks - Develop and implement a public relations strategy for the project in order to increase the project's impact and to position the project in the area of women economic empowerment in India - Design a monitoring system based on key metrics to track the success of implementation of the PR strategy and adjust PR strategy as necessary - Advise the project manager and team members on innovative and effective means of outreach in close coordination with the GIZ communication expert working for the overall cluster of projects in the area of private sector development - Develop clear, compelling and innovative materials targeted towards different stakeholder groups to be used for communication purposes in all areas of the project - Develop, curate and manage the project's website and social media presence - Monitor and report trends in the Indian media related to women economic empowerment issues - Support the project manager in designing and carrying out a media campaign to raise awareness on the role of women's participation in the economy, with a special focus on the production of short films, but also other media instruments (component 4) Required qualifications, competences and experience - University degree in media and communication, marketing or other related fields - Minimum 3-5 years professional experiences in designing and implementing public relations strategies and successful media campaigns in India - Work experience in a communication agency or communication department of a company or organisation would be an advantage - Existing contacts to relevant personalities or organisations influencing the debate on women empowerment in India would be desirable - Affinity to and proven ability to manage social media presence - Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate complex issues, in writing and verbally, in a target group orientated way (internal and external) - Ability to work independently and self-motivation - Fluent in English How to Apply - Please send your application in GIZ India Job Application Form- along with a statement of suitability for this position, expected salary and availability in terms of date of joining&nbsp; - Last date of application day, 25 June 2018 Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
