Summary of Role / Profile:

Focus of the Function : To transition the finance & accounting process from global locations (US, Bermuda & London) and stabilize the processes in india. The role requires setting up the finance & accounting process beginning from hiring the team, creating the org structure, working with Onsite re-engineering team & client team on projects in pipeline.

Why does this job exist: The role is responsible for service delivery. He/She would be an acting controller for the insurance organization and ensure accuracy of the financials.

How does the role add value : The role works in a highly growth environment and requires the person to wear a CFO hat as he/she is independently responsible for end to end operations for F&A. The role is that of a Controller & Deputy CFO and would directly report to Country CFO's at the client end. The person is expected to work towards goal of reduction of close cycle time significantly and also build an effective organization with strong controllership bent of mind.

How is this role unique from others : The role gives an end to end view for a growing Insurance company having global operations - US, Europe & Asia. The person is responsible for complete financials which is unique instead of being just responsible for a part of finance operations from an offshore location.

Who are the key relationships for this role: CFOs, Actuaries, Auditors, Third party vendors.

What are the minimum prior qualifications to be an applicant for this role: Chartered Accountant/CPA/ICWA

What are the key initiatives & challenges facing this role in the next six months to three years: The role would require transitioning processes including accounting, reporting, reconciliations, FP&A from global locations in a short span and stabilize the process.

Specific competences ( Essential) :

- In depth understanding of end to end finance processes - solid experience around closing the book of accounts.

- Understanding of UK Llyods market

Key Roles and Responsibilities :

- Review of quarterly financials for an insurance company and submit for final review to CFO

- Actively drive monthly close process & be a point of escalation to resolve close related issues.

- Work on accounting policy issues & provide recommendations to CFO including a memo for ongoing accounting issues & new pronouncements and requirements.

- Build effective controls in the accounting & reporting processes to ensure accuracy of the financials.

- Responsible for GAAP/STAT accounting for each region - US, UK & Asia.

- Actively work with IT & reengineering team to provide inputs for system upgrades (Claims, underwriting & GL) with a goal of streamlining the close process & build effective controls.

- Work towards restructuring the chart of accounts to meet the reporting requirements both to the regulators and management.

- Actively work towards building deep domain depth in the team around Property & Casualty insurance.

- Hire, retain & motivate a highly talented and qualified team

Knowledge, Experience, Education :

Essential :

- End to end understanding of closing process for an insurance company

- 8 to 10 years of audit/accounting and closing experience

- CA/CPA/ICWA

- Experience in transition of processes from US/global locations.

Desirable :

- Experience of implementing and evaluating SOX controls

External & internal contacts :

CFO's of various business units

- Head of reinsurance, claims, Underwriting & Actuarial

- Brokers/TPA's - external

- Regulators & Auditors

Location - Gurgaon, Noida

- Someone who has run the F&A shop, who understand F&A works, controllership works

- Strong in people management, will be managing the span of 400 to 500

- Looking for someone who is confident, strong in communication and can have an intelligent discussion at CXO level

- Well versed with market

- Knowledge, skill and ability to communicate is important

- Someone who has worked on deals, though core job is F&A operations

- Insurance industry is preference

- Should have experience in transition of processes

- 16-17 years of experience
