General Manager - Research & Development - Traction Manufacturing Industry

One of our client is looking for GM - R&D role. This organization is leading manufacturers of traction products mostly for Railways. The company has formed strategic alliances with leading OEM's worldwide in the Railway industry as a qualified supplier.

They work with the prestigious clients like ICF (Integral Coach Factory), BHEL, Honda etc.

About role:

- To formulate, define and implement R&D policies and processes to keep the organization ahead of development curve and competitors

- To identify, develop, validate and absorb new technologies, products and systems

- To partner technology and innovation agreements with technology provider

- To initiate, monitor, review and execute Product and system development activities in R&D department to achieve Time to Market

- Hands on experience in converting system requirements in to subsystem requirements and defining Electrical/Electronic Hardware requirements, Mechanical requirements,

- Low level Software and High Level Software requirements.

- Continuous cost reduction by incorporating new technologies and reducing BOM content

- Instrumental in reaching various Technical Tie-ups, research & development oriented alliances and handling multiple vendor partners in India and Overseas for technical and commercial finalization

- Interaction with customers for technical discussions on pre-tender, prebid and design stage of the solution proposed for the project and ensuring customer success by interacting and mitigating the technical problems, if any, within the agreed timeline

- Responsible for preparation and converting proposals in to business, defining requirements of multidisciplinary complex projects and monitor field performance and resolution of field issues

- Hands on experience in development of Microprocessor/Micro controller/FPGA/ CPLD based systems for Traction (Railways/ Metro) application.

- Has proficiency in product validation, release of design output to different functions, pilot lot production and support during regular production and Obsolescence management at the Product development stage

- Hands on experience in Electronic hardware design, System specification finalization, Thermal calculations, Design calculations, PCB Artwork design, EMI/EMC requirements & communication protocols

- Hands on experience in Research and Development, Development Strategy. Expertise in project management.

- Strong experience in front end techno commercial interaction with organizations like BEML, BHEL, BARC, ECIL, RDSO, Railway Board, DMRC & other Metros, GE, Tata Motors and BTL etc.
