We are urgently looking for a General Manager Operations for one of our clients based in Mehsana for their Machines business.

Our client is a European MNC into Road Construction Equipment with a global revenue of over 1 Billion Euros and the position is for their Machines division based in Mehsana (about 70 km from Ahmedabad)

The position would report to the Chief Operating Officer - Machines Division and would be responsible for the following:

Primary objectives / responsibility

- Plan capacity for machines and meet fabrication and assembly targets in the efficient and flexible way

- Introduce & ensure aligned LEAN principles for production planning, production steps, assembly steps, and coordinate with COO, SCM and Order Desk for all machine production

- Permanently attempt to reduce COGS by improving manufacturing process incl partial outsourcing if beneficial

- Reduce TPT from Oder Confirmation until ExW

- Increase output capacity with the same amount of FTE, and flexibility, by LEAN principles, and Make or Buy decisions with SCM Head

- Eliminate Waste in factory shopfloors and introduce/keep 5s principles

- Optimize material flows

- Propose, support & Steer Transfer Projects/Localisation Projects (with global R&D, SCM, and Quality)

Main duties:

- Lead continuous improvement of operation processes & principles to reduce TPT, eliminate waste and errors and increase production capacity and flexibility

- Coordinate Capacity Planning with Export Manager

- Assembly efficiency and performance improvement, as well as line flexibility

- Maintain two separate quality levels: one for domestic India market, one for the export market (!), with two dedicated teams and two FG stock targets

- Plan material flow and manufacturing step allocation in the factory and execute improvements step by step

- Train awareness on the shopfloors to inspire continuous improvements

- Detect inefficient processes between manufacturing and planning departments and proactively solve them with the responsible managers

- Drive Make or Buy processes with SCM and COO

- Supports Division Product Strategy (with DM Mgmt team and Product Management).

Requirements of the jobholder

Work experience/ Background:

- MSc or BSc of a technical university in mechanical or electrical engineering (additional MBA is a plus)

- 3-5 years of experience in LEAN management in the manufacturing industry (B2B)

- Production Management experience in B2B industry

- LEAN Project Management experience
