Designation General Manager : IT Sourcing Reporting VP : Sourcing Location: Mumbai Broad objective of the role - The individual is responsible for supporting the business needs by ensuring timely procurement of IT specific requirements. He/She needs to define category performance objectives aligned with SCM objectives and ensure that all policy guidelines and organizational processes related to procurement are followed properly. - The individual will plan and oversee all sourcing activities for IT category, amounting to ~$150 Mn spend. The individual is responsible for demand forecasting and developing an annual sourcing plan, aligned with the business requirements. He/She will develop category strategy and execution plan by analyzing industry trends, understanding demand patterns and vendor landscape, etc. He/She defines sourcing and negotiation strategies basis category strategy for all the major sourcing projects by adopting best practices. - He/ She needs to focus on standardization of product specifications, to drive catalog creation for direct purchase. He/She is responsible for optimizing technical specifications of user requirements by collaborating with product/ business teams and vendors. He/She should understand how various systems interact with each other for fulfillment of business requirements and provide inputs whereever technology enablement is required (e.g., adoption of Ariba for sourcing, etc.) - He/She maintains a close working relationship with all business functions, SCM Operations, SCM Enablers and SCM Logistics to ensure cross-functional collaboration and efficient sourcing. He/She needs to work with both in-house teams and suppliers to meet the required efficiency norms and SLAs. He/ She needs to support development of supplier relationship management strategy and formulate strategic relationships with key vendors. - He/She is accountable for compliance to the guidelines and rules, both internal and external (tax laws, legal/ regulatory laws), and accountable for any artefacts/ processes needed for the same. Total team size (incl direct reports) 5-6 Other size parameters ~$ 150 Mn - 200 Mn of annual spend Minimum qualification & experience - Bachelor's Degree and MBA or Recognised Procurement /Supply Chain certification (CIPS or equivalent Procurement qualification) - Minimum of 8-10 years of global procurement experience in technology/telecom industry, preferably IT with a large multinational setup - Knowledge of recent trends and development in technology and network field (e.g. Cloud, IoT, etc.) - Experience in strategic sourcing via category management, responsible for a spend of ~$100 - 150 Mn - Knowledge of supply chain regulation and compliance - Understanding of international, regional and local supply markets and working practices - Experience of implementing change in a complex environment, working with a wide range of stakeholders - Experience in catalog development for standard products/ services - Experience in e-sourcing toolsets Areas Of Responsibility (Key Activities) Strategy development and planning - Define performance objectives and targets for IT category that are aligned with overall SCM objectives - Develop and monitor implementation of Annual Sourcing Plan for IT Category (incl. internal and external demand) - Develop category strategy and execution plan for sub-categories within IT (internal and external demand) by forecasting demand, analyzing industry trends, understanding vendor landscape, etc. - Develop negotiation strategies by examining supplier's industry position and cost-structure, identifying trends in supply market, developing cost tear-downs, analyzing market intelligence data for benchmarking, etc. - Optimize sourcing and ordering schedule by assessing demand drivers - Ensure compliance to spend budget by reviewing the spend vs demand data - Comprehend key developments in IT industry by participating in industry conferences, reading research papers/ reports, etc. - Identify potential risks and define risk mitigation strategies to manage supply chain risks Cross Functional Collaboration - Ensure close coordination with business, sales and other stakeholders for effective demand planning - Partnering with business teams to rationalize product/ service portfolio, both from a cost and technology perspective, by optimizing technical/ functional specifications - Serve as procurement subject-matter-expert and educate users on appropriate processes and applicable policies as required - Facilitate ongoing collaboration between the Business teams, Operations team, Enablers team and Logistics team - Lead and/or participate in cross-functional team projects Team Management - Manage and direct day-to-day activities of direct reports, to ensure timely procurement as per business requirements - Provide on-going career development, support and coaching for direct reports - Provide feedback to team, and identify need based training requirements for direct reports - Solicit ideas and foster an environment for personnel development of the team Supplier Management - Support development of supplier relationship management strategy to streamline and improve processes for the organization and its key suppliers; execute SRM processes for key suppliers - Identify key suppliers on the basis of evaluation criteria and develop strategic relationships with the suppliers - Ensure supplier design meet performance and design to value objectives - Work closely with suppliers to optimize the total lifecycle costs (including cost reduction initiatives) - Set performance improvement targets for the suppliers as a part of supplier performance management - Gather periodic feedback from working teams on vendors- support and overall performance Strategy Execution - Identify/evaluate potential sourcing strategies, run risk analysis and document sourcing strategies - Drive catalog creation and adoption for direct purchase by increasing the standardization of products/ services within the category - Manage the end to end sourcing process (including RFP/RFQ process) for identified sourcing initiatives - Support the team in negotiating high value contracts with key suppliers by using game theory and other negotiation techniques like BATNA, WATNA, etc. - Support the team during the implementation of negotiated contracts and monitor contractual compliance - Adopt best practices for strategic sourcing to ensure that target savings and benefits are achieved - Collaborate with other business stakeholders, and constructively challenge business on all areas of sub-optimal spend Operational Improvement - Ensure that day to day activities comply with standards and performance measures set in the approved SCM policy and procedures - Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes for procurement - Identify transactional activities related to sourcing and work closely with Head - Operations to shift the responsibility to SSC - Sourcing Operations team - Champion use of standard sourcing tools and methodologies including execution of advanced sourcing events - Benchmark negotiated solutions against alternate supply market options - Plan and execute communications plans to ensure accurate and timely flow of information to internal customers and stakeholders (e.g., policy, procedures, etc.)
