We Are Hiring GM - EHS - Infrastructure - For One Of Our Clients In Nepal Who Are Into Hydropower/Infrastructure Activities.


Job Requirements/Specification : Environmental Engineer/ Masters in Environment Science with at least 5 + years' experience as team leader of EHS activity in a hydropower/infrastructure project at site. Experience of working in a project complying with IFC Performance Standards/ Equator Principles/World Bank/International Environmental standards is strongly preferred. The desired candidate is expected to be a self-starter, result oriented with desire to work in multi-cultural environment. Strong written and communication skills in English and Nepali are required.

Job Description :

- Overall responsibility for effective operation and implementation of the EHS requirements of the Project as per IFC performance standards;

- Implement and ensure health and safety regulation compliance and adequate trainings as applicable to needs and requirement of the project;

- Create awareness and ensure proper implementation of the environmental affairs to stakeholders at systemic level and preparing reports as required;

- Planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting on EHS strategies based on the ESMP, EIA/ESIA and EMP of project;

- Liaise with all stakeholders including but not limited to local community, contractors, project technical and construction team, consultants, lenders and maintain a cordial and working relationship at local level

Short intro of the project :

- This Hydropower project is a Run of River (RoR) hydropower project on Solu River at Solu Dudhkunda Municipality in Solukhumbu District in Eastern Development Region of Nepal. The total installed capacity of project is 82 MW. The project is being developed on 35 years BOOT license provided by Government of Nepal in April 2014 and all electricity generated from the project shall be sold to GoN owned off taker Nepal Electricity Authority under a 30 year Power Purchase Agreement.

- The project shall generate 446 Gwh of energy with a net head of 477 meters and design discharge of 20.4 m3/s. The project components include a 11m high and 43m wide barrage, underground desander, 4.3 km head race tunnel, 36 m high surge tank, 1.4 km penstock pipe and 2 units of pelton turbine in surface powerhouse.

- The project is in full-fledged construction, current progress of the construction is around 93%.

- The project has obtained debt financing from a consortium of European Development Financial Institutions led by the Dutch Development Bank FMO and member bank being German Development Bank DEG, OPEC Fund for International Development, Guarantco Ltd and five Nepalese banks. This is the reason the project has to comply all IFC performance standards in project construction.
