Position : GM - Plant Head (Global Supply Chain Unit)

Locations : Baroda

Reports to : Vice President, Product Manufacturing

Team Size : Employee strength of 360

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

- The incumbents are expected to ensure products are delivered to the customers at the right time, quality and cost - by managing the plant, providing a safe environment and ensuring engagement of people.

- S/He is required to work closely with a team from Finance,Human resource,EHS, Quality, Production,Supply chain,methods,maintenance and technical.

- The incumbents will be responsible for managing manufacturing turnover in excess of INR 750 Crores (USD 100Mn) delivering exceptional growth rate. The key measures of performance include: improvements done to customer satisfaction for delivery and quality, cost improvement done during a period, improvement done to safety and engagement of employees and overall economics related to the site.

The primary responsibilities of these roles would include:

Environment, health and Safety

- Ensure systems and processes are set up in place to ensure continuous focus on improving EHS

- Ensure adequate resources are put in place to manage and animate the work related to EHS.

- Be a role model to personally champion the cause for a safe work environment and protect the environment

Quality Management

- Ensure systems and processes to manage quality effectively

- Ensure adequate resources are put in place to manage and animate the quality processes

- Review daily, weekly and monthly the status of quality

- Ensure all customer complaints are analyzed using 8D principles and corrective+preventive actions are put in place

- Ensure voice is provided to the quality team so that they are empowered to freeze processes which are not delivering the right quality of products.

- Ensure a continuous improvement plan is in place to drive improvement in parts, process and product by use of technology, process improvement by quality control, assurance and management practices.

- Promote the cause of quality in the plant by systematically raising the subject in important forum

Supply chain -

- Ensure daily monitoring of customer delivery needs, order booked, production status and stock build at various stages of the delivery process.

- Ensure road-blocks are discussed and resolved in order to meet customer delivery and priority.

- Ensure various supply chain processes are in place and plant is participating in them as per their role and using data effectively;

- Collaborative sales forecasting, Demand response planning, Master production schedule, supplier forecasting, Short interval management at all levels of the organization, Queue management, backlog evolution monitoring, customer prioritization in case of issues, red alert processes in case of shortage/crisis, inventory management, monitoring of unhealthy stock and reduction, air: sea procurement and customer delivery optimization, warehouse management system, material replenishment process, kanban, Cycle count, stock take, variance analysis;

Production, Methods & Maintenance

- Develop a strong culture in shop floor for safety, meeting customer expectation in terms of quality and delivery.

- Develop a culture of equality, empathy and trust in the shop floor.

- Develop high level of engagement in the shop-floor using idea scheme, Short interval management, self-managed teams, production system, involvement and participation at all levels.

- Build flexibility by day to ensure reaction time to reduce queue is high.

- Ensure Short interval management processes are working vibrantly in the shop floor and is the means to remove roadblocks to solve issues.

- Ensure processes are in place for continuous improvement by using Production System.

- Ensure capacity is periodically monitored and action plan prepared to put in place the right capacity.

- Ensure process is continuously improved by using technology to reduce cycle time, to enhance quality output of the process, ergonomics to improve comfort to the operator, prevent MSD and boost productivity, cycle time optimization by benchmark with other plants, change processes to cater to new product needs;

- Ensure a very strong and effective preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance practice with the right spare part management system in place + skill development in the team.

Cost Management -

- Ensure a periodic tracking of product cost and margin evolution

Identify the opportunity to improve cost by various actions

- Localization

- QVE

- Negotiation

- Labor productivity

- Base cost optimization

- Drive various teams to work on cost improvement actions and review periodically

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS -

- The ideal candidates would bring15+ years of relevant experience in the power, Transmission and distribution sector. H/She must be commercially astute and should bring relevant experience to cater to the organization's growth plans.

The ideal candidate background:

- Experience in a manufacturing organization and have business understanding of the related functions like - Finance, Supply Chain, Safety and quality.

- Understanding of conducting business in MNCs and culture prevalent in such organizations: reporting structure, interfacing with executive management, lines of communication, etc.;

- Strong operating and management skills;

- A good balance of strategic thinking and execution abilities;

- Experience of managing a plant P&L with track record of delivering growth;

- Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience of managing large & diverse teams;

- Experience of handling union matters and labor relations;

- Ability to communicate effectively in an environment that serves multiple customers and internal stakeholders;

- Good exposure to concepts like - Lean, Six-Sigma, and other continuous improvement tools to enhance plant's overall manufacturing performance;

In addition, the successful candidates should have:

- Proven ability to deliver growth in a very competitive environment with a systematic & process oriented approach;

- High ethical standards and professional integrity;

- Strong analytical skills

- Technically Savvy

EDUCATION -

- Engineering degree from a Mechanical or Electrical stream.

- A subsequent management degree is preferable.
