Position Title : General Manager - Taxation (Direct Tax) Division / Department : F&amp;A - Direct Taxation Location : Mumbai Qualification : Chartered Accountant Total Years of Experience : 12-15 years of relevant experience in direct taxation with high technical competency in income tax law. Double taxation, avoidance agreements and a good knowledge of all Statutory compliances in the Direct tax area. Reporting to : Head Taxation Team Size : Total Team size of 4-5 1. JOB PURPOSE : Responsible for handling the direct tax function 2. RESPONSIBILITIES : i. Direct Tax Processes : - Lead and Co-odinate the direct tax processes and compliances including corporate tax, transfer pricing, international tax, tax related certifications, filings, withholding tax, individual taxation and payroll tax work. ii. Legal : - Prepare submissions and appeals and represent Company in assessment and appeal hearings before tax authorities. iii. Analyses : - Preparation of tax provisions, forecasts, deferred tax charge reporting, and analysis of key tax drivers. - Tracking updates and dissemination of information within the organization iv. Risk Management : - Support the tax risk management and assurance process. v. Timely resolution of queries from other departments. - Query resolution vi. Cordial rapport with government and tax authorities : - Reply to all State Government notices in time and maintain good rapport with all government officials. vii. Coordination : - Should keep track of Legal Matters, Hearing and co-ordination with functional teams and consultants for appearance before the adjudicating authority. viii. Team handling : - Mentor and guide his team to achieve the desired results 4. KEY CHALLENGES : - Timely compliances with respect to the various Group companies - Providing tax consequences relating to the various accounting standards and MIS purposes - Coordination with various stakeholders and adherence to systems and processes 5. KEY DECISIONS : - Decisions relating to matters such as withholding taxes, payroll taxes, on which regular advisory is provided to the organization - Foreign remittance certification - Tax accounting and reporting - Allocation of work amongst the team - Matters relating to assessments, appeals - Regular MIS - On legal positions to be taken - On potential tax strategies for the companies - On training of team and approach - Automation of systems and procedures 6. INTERACTIONS : A. Internal Interactions : - Across the Business including with various units of the company. B. External Interactions : - Tax authorities - Consultants 7. DIMENSIONS : A. Financial Dimensions : 1. Tax optimisation under existing Income regime 2. Minimal receivables outstanding 3. Optimization of consultancy costs B. Functional Skills : - Aim towards achieving organisational goals. - Good grasp of accounting and taxation issues. - Good head for numbers - Good understanding of VAT. Knowledge of GST will be an advantage. - Strong background in the areas of SOPs and good insight of various taxation processes - Should have analytical skills so that proper guidance can be provided to the various internal departments. C.
