General Manager - Corporate Strategy - Fertilizer (15-18 yrs)

Job description :

- In 2019, Company developed a Long Term Strategy (LTS) 2025 for all its business units (BUs). BUs will lead the strategy implementation with support from the Corporate Strategy team headed by the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO).

- LTS is a program aimed at improving business performance and margins . It adopts a strategic view of all business units within company, and involves:

- Driving initiatives leading to business performance and margin improvement

- Laying down a robust LTS governance process for performance monitoring and course correction

- Coordinating across BUs to ensure seamless implementation of initiatives

- TheGM - Corporate Strategy will be responsible for driving the Long Term Strategy (LTS) process and working closely with the senior business leadership. The role would specifically include

- Program manage LTS implementation and driving LTS execution governance

- Provide oversight to various CoE (Centre of Excellence) within the BUs

- Actively driving high priority LTS initiatives both at Corporate and BU 's

- Leading any additional LTS development and annual refresh

- Providing thought leadership to BUs and analytical support in strategy development

- Designing, building and operating Company's Strategy Academy

Key Responsibilities : 

Strategic :

Annual Strategy Refresh :

- Lead the BU teams to periodically refresh/ update the long-term strategy for Company and BUs

- Recommend appropriate tools, frameworks, concepts, processes and measures to support the strategic planning process

- Ensure that the updates to the long-term strategy are effectively translated into actionable initiatives backed by robust implementation plans

Thought Leadership and Analytical Support :

- Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise to drive critical business choices and to various CoE (Centre of Excellence) within the business units

- Identify additional business opportunities for the company and various business units and help develop the strategy and business plans linked to the same

- Develop updated understanding of market, competition, and customer, technological, regulatory and other trends in relation to the current and future businesses .

Operational :

Long Term Strategy (LTS) Governance and Performance Management

- Drive multi-level management reporting to apprise the organization and the Group of progress against the long-term strategy

- Drive a structured process in coordination with various stakeholders (Group/Corporate/BU) for LTS review and governance

- Ensure any potential delays in execution are highlighted appropriately to resolve in a timely manner

- Identify and recommend opportunities for mid-term course correction-

Driving Execution of Critical Initiatives :

- Work with business to closely support execution of key strategic initiatives

- Drive collaboration and synergies across businesses units by becoming a trusted advisor

- Build business cases, pitches and investment proposals to drive strategic decisions

Strategy Academy :

- Plan the annual agenda for the Strategy Academy

- Engage with relevant external / internal experts to conduct periodic workshop aligned to the overall agenda for the Academy

- Facilitate Strategy Academy sessions, including coordinating logistics, pre and post work, etc.

Required Candidate profile :

- BE with MBA /CA with 15-18 years of total experience

- Atleast 7+ years of experience in corporate strategy or management consulting

- Atleast 4+ years of experience in Project Management

- Prior experience in Agri Related industry is preferred.

- Candidates currently working with Consulting firms in agriculture / fertilizer domain preferred.

- Highly proficient in the entire MS Office suite

- Business case and investment modelling

- Strategic planning using qualitative tools

- Project management skills

- Problem solving skills in ambiguous and unstructured environment

- Business build skills

- Ability to define, simplify, standardize processes and implement best practices

- Strong business intuition with basic knowledge and understanding of the agricultural market in India and globally

- Digital and Tech savvy; comfortable with tools and technology
