General Manager - Category Management - Food/QSR/FMCG (10-15 yrs)

Job Summary :

Responsible for category management of food and packaged food, beverage and merchandizing and primarily responsible for increase of sales and profitability of business to drive sustainable growth. Driving innovation in the beverage and food space, responsible for the pricing and overall promotion of a product category to maximize sales. Integrating category strategies to operating plans to drive business performance.

Summary of Key Responsibilities :

- Driving market research, consumer insights, and store partner level insights and business analytics to Lead the Innovation in category function

- Lead cross functional alignment of marketing and category strategies

- Leads the inception, creation and alignment of the 18 month rolling product innovation and promotional calendar to create an integrated cross category plan.

- Identify a set of benchmark products to create competitive advantage for the company in category.


- To ensure that financial plans are developed in line with market trends, balancing risks and identify opportunities and to develop plans to achieve net margin plan for the Category and maximize profitability


- Defining and leading category revenue contribution to overall sales.

- Understanding competition benchmarks in terms of the range, pricing, and moulding our strategy accordingly

- Work with Marketing to develop Food BOBs and in-store visual assets - Devising Long term and short term plans for the category items.


- Product Management for RTD & E and elevating packaging experience by working together with marketing.


- Achievement of revenue by designing and developing product mix which enables (ADT, AT, IPT, APR and Margin)


- Utilize understanding of consumer insights and identify opportunities for profitable brand growth.

- Product Life cycle management


- Evaluate sales performance at variant level to decide on best sellers that would be populated in the network and review product range accordingly.

- Decision on rationalization of the products based on performance in terms of profitability or sales

- Ensure adherence to all certification requirements, statutory and Regulatory requirements, Legal requirements (all Corporate Governance Compliances).

- Ensure Category activation of merchandise mix ; assortment range plan for all stores

Qualifications :

- MBA (Specialization In Marketing) with 12/15 years of consumer marketing experience. Must have managed a leadership role.

Industry preference : FMCG / Retail/ F&B/ Beverages
