General Manager/Category Head - Services (10-20 yrs)

Purpose :

The Category Lead - Services is responsible for supporting the business needs by ensuring timely procurement of Services. He/She needs to define category performance objectives aligned with SCM objectives and ensure that all policy guidelines and organizational processes related to procurement are followed properly.

The Category Lead plans and oversees all sourcing activities for Services category. He/ She is responsible for demand forecasting and developing an annual sourcing plan, aligned with the business requirements.

He/She develops category strategy and execution plan by analyzing industry trends, understanding demand patterns and vendor landscape, etc. He/She defines sourcing and negotiation strategies basis category strategy for all the major sourcing projects by adopting best practices.

He/ She needs to focus on standardization of services, to drive catalog creation for direct purchase. He/She is responsible for optimizing technical specifications of user requirements by collaborating with business teams and vendors. He/She should understand how various systems interact with each other for fulfillment of business requirements and provide inputs whereever technology enablement is required (e.g., adoption of Ariba for sourcing, etc.)

He/She maintains a close working relationship with all business functions, SCM Operations, SCM Enablers and SCM Logistics to ensure cross-functional collaboration and efficient sourcing. He/She needs to work with both in-house teams and suppliers to meet the required efficiency norms and SLAs. He/ She needs to support development of supplier relationship management strategy and formulate strategic relationships with key vendors.

He/She is accountable for compliance to the guidelines and rules, both internal and external (tax laws, legal/ regulatory laws), and accountable for any artefacts/ processes needed for the same

Area Of Responsibility :

- Define performance objectives and targets for Services category that are aligned with overall SCM objectives

- Develop and monitor implementation of Annual Sourcing Plan for Services Category (incl. internal and external demand)

- Develop category strategy and execution plan for sub-categories within Services (internal and external demand) by forecasting demand, analyzing industry trends, understanding vendor landscape, etc.

- Develop negotiation strategies by examining supplier's industry position and cost- structure, identifying trends in supply market, developing cost tear-downs, analyzing market intelligence data for benchmarking, etc.

- Optimize sourcing and ordering schedule by assessing demand drivers

- Ensure compliance to spend budget by reviewing the spend vs demand data

- Comprehend key developments in Services by participating in industry conferences, reading research papers/ reports, etc.

- Identify potential risks and define risk mitigation strategies to manage supply chain risks
